Why does this cause you trouble?

Every time I see someone reading the Daily Mail I throw Holy Water on them & say a quiet prayer.

The Daily Mail will never prevail.

I read the link, its part of the same schtick:
The ex proprieter of the Mail was an enthusiastic user of viagra with his Asiatic mistress.

His wife "Bubbles" Rothermere (Little Britain fans doers the name sound familiar?) was a well known gad about toy boys.

I believe the current Lord Rothermere has shown a truly great understanding of the plight of unmarried single mothers

I remember being driven past it going right back to my childhood - mainly because of the (deliberately) wonkey letters on the sign

Love the conspiracy theories though!

Just thinking about this weird place today. Had a look on Google Streetview, and part of it has been turned into a Starbucks coffee shop

DE yes it's now a Starbucks. God alone knows who's going to turn off at that point for a sh1t coffee. Bloody awkward spot.

Outbuilding turned into Starbucks. Very odd place. Been driving past it on the way to the IOW for years. Derelict for ages, then loads of money pumped in to renovate, then stood empty and boarded up for ages. Even weirder is the old pub/nightclub just south of the Hindhead tunnel, which has been empty, deteriorating and scaffolded for ever. Gather it has a colourful past, and all attempts to develop it have come up against planning issues.

Think that used to be a little chef before they made it dual carriageway. Then turned into a nightclub.

No the little chef was a 100 yards back and became a cafe before now being flats. as the A3 had a little re-route due to the tunnel. The Nightclub shell is still there, as is the San Domenico. It has been used as a Pikey fly tip dump & site, so has to have massive concrete barriers all round it now. Crap still everywhere and the building has been vandalised. The Starbucks is in the old Garage/barn that was built before the San Domenico and the kept some of the original features, so I guess its a listed building

As IOW says, different place. I once found an old article with some photos on the Web. Will hunt it down. One thing I miss about the rerouting of the A3 is stopping off for breakfast at what my kids called 'the Devil's Fruitbowl'. Lovely spot for them to have a run around. Don't miss that bottleneck at the lights though.

Not far from there is Thursley, meaning "Thor's Place".

Local legend has it that the punchbowl results from the devil scooping out earth to hurl at Thor, who had annoyed him.

Theologically speaking, they are very confused down there...

I think our local Mercedes or BMW (certainly one of those ghastly Teutonic brands) dealership is moving onto that site now.

Hope this link works. It is footage of the old place as it is now but with titles on screen giving a history of the place. I had heard the rumour about Fleetwood Mac practising there but thought it was pie in the sky. It appears not.

Signs on that now look like it might be turned into a car lot i think. I pass both these every home game.

There was a sign up saying it was going to be a Euro Garage Petrol. That would have been handy but now we have a star bucks which as mentioned looks bloody hard to get too safely. And worse to get back on as well! Dont get it.

The spies and those they are protecting in the safe house deserve good coffee though. Unfortunately all they can get is a starbucks!

That's great !

I live about half a mile from there. although no clues in which direction, because I don't want the Hippy dropping in on me on his way down to his IOW holiday residence.
