I've edited out the parts of your question that don't make you look good & focused on the query you've put twice now. I'm guessing I won't stop you asking it again, and again, but here's the thing: as I've said over and over, even on the Ref thread itself over a year ago, FTAs are all about regulatory obstacles, that is non-tariff barriers. That's because the WTO went as far as it could on tariffs by the 90s. On average, they're as low as they'll get. The EU led on a new approach of bilateral or regional deals that liberalised trade further. The original agreement with Canada - before it morphed into a full FTA (though really a trade association) - was the model for this. Even without an FTA, even the USA follows suit & US producers, as much as they moan about it, adhere to EU standards. So selling to the big three means getting behind one of the big 3 in order to get through those non-tariff barriers. We could become a US state to do that (& some will argue we almost did) but it's unlikely that we'll become part of a Chinese regime, so what's our choice here?

Another non answer. I mean really is this the best you can do?

Yes, it is. Recycling old Daily Mail editorial lines saves a lot of time which can be better used raging against imaginary enemies that are burrowing up into the village green as we speak. So cheer on as they shut down the liberals and the socialists (all the same really). Pump the air as they end all trade unions. Shout louder to get them to do more about foreigners of all shades and origin. Now, remind me, who's next on our list of "my fantasy world would be so much better without the likes of you".
