I think Roy will start with

Guiata
AWB Dann Sakho PVA
Townsend Macarthur Milivojevic Schlupp
Zaha
Benteke

Subs slightly more difficult to predict but could be Hennessy, Riedewald, Kelly, Meyer, Sako, Ayew, Batshuyi

West Ham at home

I thing Roy will start with Dann judging by his press conference comments. He might start with Michy as well ďHe has trained well all week, and settled in very quickly with the groupĒ.

Roy does seem particularly pleased to have Batshuyai, he was beaming last week. He was about Sako as well as Iím pretty sure he asked for him back. If Sako makes the rest of them happy which in turn gets us results then heís worth the £30k.

I was proposing precisely that on the basis that Roy would want to accommodate both in the starting set up with a view that Ayew may well drop to provide more of a screen if we find it difficult to retain the ball in what will be a crowded and competitive midfield; personally i'm still not convinced by Wilf as a central striker in this current period and feel he is far more effective on the inside flanks particularly against west hams perchance to deploy wing backs in cresswell/antonio/fredericks etc...

I can see a strong argument for Schlupp starting in a 5 man midfield with the lone striker being Ayew or Benteke if Roy thinks players breaking from midfield is the way to break down the opposition, as i said earlier; even their own fans dont know which West Ham is going to turn up...

AWB Dann Sakho PVA
Townsend Luka McArthur Zaha
Meyer
Batishuyi

The sort of balls Michy wants is low to his feet not long balls or high crosses even having 2 wingers is a bit too much frankly, we're probably better off playing with one and having more players centrally.

What I find oddly strange is that we now have options when in the recent past it seemed like it could be a struggle to even put a side together at all sometimes.

Heady days indeed.

Guiata
Wan dann sakho pva
Townsend Luca macca wilf
Tekkers ayew

Additional height from dann and ayews performance last week has guided my opinion.
Those knocking clearly are Kelly and possibly shluppy over macca given his performance as well last week.
We will see bats almost certainly at some point.

Today's Times goes for your line up, except they have Dann in for Kelly.

Not sure how good bats is in the air really but unless I’ve missed how good he is we have to play benteke don’t we?

The entire season we’ve been desperate for someone we can cross to. Every single bastard team (outside the top six) has worked out we can’t cross this season. They sit deep and pack the area, allowing us to have the ball around the edge of the box, particularly on the wings. But we can’t cross because we’ve had literally NONONE that’s a threat in the air so we over play and try to pick the perfect pass or run into a crowded area... most of the time we lose it and get hit on the break.

If we have an aerial threat we can cross. That means the opposing teams can’t afford to let us have it in those wide areas anymore and the wing/full backs and wide midfielders can’t drop back into the area like they have been. They have to come out to stop the cross or benteke is going to get heading practice the whole game. Just having him there means we get space, zaha, bats, ayew, Townsend, jimmy, Meyer, kouyate etc... whoever is running in will get more space. It changes not only how we play but how the opposition have to set up.

If fit, Benteke HAS to play imo

———————————Guaita——————————-
AWB—————dann—————Sakho—————pva
Townsend————-Luka———-jimmy————zaha
——————-benteke————-bats———————-

Edit: not to mention of course the hold up play we’ve missed, the out ball and the potential for flick on with the pace of bats, Townsend and zaha all able to run beyond him
