Foster has always been class.

Stunning that he only has 8 England caps to his name.

A fantastic example of talent utterly wasted at a big club rotting away for so many years.

Our record against Fabianksi is pretty bad. I make it one win in about 10 games - and that was a 1-0 win last game of the season under Pardew.

As a team yes, but against him as a person it’s not too bad. Wasn’t he in goal when we hit 4 away from home at Swansea and still lost? I still seethe at the thought of that game and bloody Pardew.

Have Zaha/Palace appealed ? Thought we had 7 days to decide whether to appeal.
Either way, that 7 day window should expire soon. So expect to hear something by tomorrow.

Hodgson said on Friday that we had appealed and that we would probably get the result this week

Being a cynic the FA will stall on a decision so that he can play in the fa cup televised match , then uphold the ban so that there is a extra sting by missing the leicester match .

They've both been good for a long time. I would have loved to have got Fabianski in the summer although Guaita was obviously good value (as out of contract) and already agreed.

Could get an extra game if appeal not successful, so could miss Leicester and Man Utd if result comes in after the weekend.

No chance of an extra game, and no precedent in these circumstances either

We are only appealing the severity of the punishment, so impossible for it to be considered spurious

I'm not sure that's true. They might decide we just appealed so he could play against West Ham and be suspended for Doncaster. That would then be spurious, surely?

I take your point, but don't see any likelihood at all

As I said, can someone find an example of a ban being extended in these circumstances?

Not having a go, but do you have a precedent to back that up? Or a link to an FA rule on that?

Surely Palace will know what they’re doing and not risk this outcome and Hodgson did say they’d taken legal advice before appealing.

But we didn’t have to appeal in order to achieve that result (ie missing the cup match).

We had a week to decide whether to appeal, so we could have simply said on Monday that we accept the punishment and take in on Sunday.

FA Appeal Regulations 3.3 ‘make such further or other order as it considers appropriate, generally or for the purpose of giving effect for its decision’

This appears to be in respect of an appeal being dismissed which I interpret as meaning if they want that can make further punishment. However I am not a lawyer and someone with better legal understanding of FA regulations may interpret this differently.

Would we be able to use the FA cup game to serve the 1 game ban, or is it just Premier League related ?

From what I’ve read, the red cards count across all competitions (so the player misses the next match regardless of what it is), but the cumulative yellows only count in the specific competitions.

But if that’s wrong and Wilf’s extra red can’t be used in the cup, then the FA can’t accuse Palace of having a spurious appeal in order to achieve something that isn’t possible anyway.

If the hearing has not happened yet they should take footage of the Spurs match last night. Vertonghen sarcastically clapping the referee - no punishment whatsoever.
