Could not see Wickham in any of the training pictures. Wonder whether we would get any insurance if he retired due to injury?

Players can also insure their future earnings in case of serious injury.

Face it, Wickham is done as a footballer. He might make a return and play a game or two but I'll bet a lot that he will never play regular football, at any level, again.

There needs to be some serious questions asked by our management on the future of Connor Wickham this summer. Sadly his constant on off career has gone on for far too long also the uncertainty of constant niggling injuries cropping up at any given time cant continue indefinetly, and must at last surely put a question mark of his time at CPFC.
He is very highly paid and from what we hear money the club can ill afford to keep paying out, the same applies to Benteke should he not regain his form in the weeks ahead before the season ends. Jointly the wages paid out to these Two we hear is in excess of £200k p.w with very little returns based on what we have seen for the past Two Years. which makes them unsustainable for a club like ourselves. So in my opinion BOTH should be on a last chance opportunity, CW to prove his worth through his full recovery to fitness, and CB his recovery of his long lost form. Failure to do so before the season ends then somehow we need to move them on in the summer, easier said than done as the difficulty will be to WHO? promises to be an interesting summer of decision making ahead for the Board as we have to get it right. |

Hahahaha. Top notch jokes about a player who has always given his all, and has been absolutely plagued by bad luck.

He has had 1 major injury, he has taken a long time to come back from it but the injuries he is getting at the moment appear to be the niggles you get when your body is having to get back to playing professional level sport. IMO we should give him an additional year next year on a lower wage with performance related bonuses and see how he is after a full preseason he can engage in. Spurs showed the instinct is there as a striker, when he has played he has looked reasonably good. It’s touch and go if he will ever get back but too early to completely write him off yet IMO. |

Ah i thought his deal ended this year? If he has a deal for next year then the point remains, he should be able to have a full pre season this summer and then next season will fully test his body.

A real shame for him and us as I really rate him. As for his future with us it reminds me of roulette where you keep betting black and it lands on red, you think if I change to red it will land black, so stick to black only to land red again, if we let him go will he flourish elsewhere? or do we keep him and pray and pay.

I honestly think he’s done here. If he’s fit in the summer he’ll move on if not he’ll see out his contract & then move on.
