There is so much positivity about Palace and our upturn in fortunes.

Why even think about losing our best players.

Surely it is better to think how can we make this team even better by adding the finishing touches to our decent side that Palace are building.

Neither player being discussed on this thread is unhappy playing for Palace and they have a genuine affection for the club, its fans and their local community as shown by the reaction from Aaron when he re-visited his old school recently.

It is not just about money for these players but pride in playing for their local club which is something that these stirring journalists find hard to comprehend.

Threads like this one are picked up by the media and turned into news when really there is no news or story to report, just the views of a very small percentage of Palace's fanbase.

I suspect neither at the moment.

I had thought Wilf would improve this year after a brilliant season last year and would command a very high price almost certainly the peak price of his career. A price that would allow a couple of top players coming in. However the stats say not and coupled with his behaviour in getting booked and sent off I think it rules out the 3 or 4 clubs that would spend that kind of money. So I think a likely value is only around £30-40mil which would only bring in one top player. I see no sense in selling him in that case.
Would he want to leave? I doubt it his move to Man U was a disaster, even with an agent in his ear I can't see its worth the risk for him. Also he's 26 so won't improve as a player. I doubt he'll ever move.

AWB, at his age should keep improving, we should tie him up for a couple of years. I expect his peak value to be in a couple of years. Top clubs will be looking at him and at some point his agent will be bending his ear. So not yet but maybe in the future.

Just posted this on Wilf’s thread as well. How we are even having this thread is beyond me, I want both players to know how much we love and appreciate them, not feel that maybe we want them out. Anyone who voted for wilf ......

I voted Wilf on the basis we are likely to get more for AWB if he stays a bit longer and Wilf is probably at the peak of his worth.

I am still really not sure who will want Wilf. Yes, he is fantastic on the ball but he is a big fish at Palace and first on the team sheet. Not sure where he would fit in at any of the so called big 6 clubs. Look at Mahrez who has hardly featured at Man City. It would be so sad to see that happen to Wilf. Far better to stay at Palace and feel the love!

Hardly featured? Mahrez has made 33 appearances for Man City (mostly starts), with nine goals and ten assists.

Zaha has been here so long, and his influence is so great (both on and off the pitch), that we would struggle to replace him.

AWB would be easier to replace with someone of a good calibre, if not the same, as someone has already said.

Well said. Braders is right - I used to like his posts but he's beginning to get on my goat and shutting down 'discussions' because he doesn't have the intellectual capacity to discuss or debate has made me change my mind. He's now bordering on troll status.

Lots of people are saying that this summer could be the summer that we have to have a restructure and possibly our two biggest valued players could be the one/s that have to move on to fund the restructure.

Nobody other than journalists and a few Palace fans have said anything about Palace having to sell our star players in the Summer.

When somebody like Steve Parish says this then I will believe it but at the moment there is no substance to the rumour and this is no more than scaremongering.

Fair enough if there was genuine concern but there is nothing to suggest that there is.

The media continually link Palace with transfers that never materialise and these rumours are more of the same until confirmed by the club.

I wasn't even talking about journalists when I wrote that (or even thought about the media for that matter). I was merely referring to what posters on the BBS had said and this summer being the summer we build again. 'If' we were to do that then you can't just magic up money from nowhere. It has to be funded and often funds are generated by player sales.

Stop stalking about the media - we are a community on here and not everything revolves around what the media write and are capable of holding discussions without needing links to rumours.
