Turntables

I have a large Vinyl collection from 60/70 and 80's.
Not had a turntable for 20 odd years since CD's became the fashion, but fancy going back to them in my twilight years.
Have a lot of blues LP's, Johnny Mayall and the like, and would like to spin them again.
Any recommendations would be much appreciated.
Budget 300 tops
Thanks all

So right, Rega Planar 3.

Bought mine with my first student grant in 1986. Went to somewhere like Market Harborough to buy it in a proper audiophile shop.

In the garage now sadly.... Kids, eh, what can you do?

Bang & Olufsen Beogram RX2

Bought in 1987, works a treat from the oldest 45 to the newest LP and still looks good.

Had my Rega Planar that I bought second hand from a mate more than 25 years ago which I still use to this day. Simple, well built design which will do most peoples needs.

I did once buy a turntable to MP3 converter as I planned to digitise my vinyl collection but after downloading a few singles I realised what hassle it would be to create an inferior quality sound so didn't bother so the turntable collected dust before I finally binned it a few years later.

I've been toying with the idea of getting back into vinyl.
I quite fancy a decent turntable, amp and speakers.
Vinyl doesn't come cheap though. I went into HMV the other week and stuff I bought on release for a fiver is now fetching upwards of 18 quid.
Blimey!

Just a quick report back.
Now almost a month into my vinyl retreat, and what joy!
Dusted off all my old 70/80's LPs, and they sound so much better.
The sound is richer and more coloured, not as bright as digital.

Supa Pard - with a decent pair of UK manufactured speakers, and a mid price amp, I like DENON, for a modest outlay you're good to go.

Yes, modern vinyls are expensive due to a different manufacturing process, thicker and heavier, but the older ones definitely surpass their CD and digital brothers.

Also the market in second hand LPs, especially rarities, limited pressings and imports, is going through the roof, so if you guys have still got some, hang on to them!

I never understood the rush to sell a vinyl collection. I've only ever bought CD's or digital downloads for convenience, never as a replacement.
Mind you, there are many individual records that I've sold or given away in the past, some of which I regret. And f*ckers who've borrowed classics and never got around to giving them back.

I've sold off a lot of my vinyl collection recently on eBay. Most of it has been over the indie period. Records i've brought for a tenner ten years ago i've sold for eighty quid or so. Ridiculous amounts. Just wish i'd brought more vinyl back then rather then on cassette.

Have a reconditioned Sondek LP12, but if I didn't have that would go for a Rega Planar with a nice cartridge
