What might have been with Jansen. Such a shame. The boy had talent.
I thought Bradbury had put us 1-0 up early on, they equalised and Super Matt scored right at the end?

He missed it. (The only one he missed for Palace?)

He was also a man ahead of his time. It was a bitterly cold day and he came out onto the pitch wearing immaculate yellow gloves.

You're right, I just googled it. I had forgotten about Lee Badbuy. All these years I could have sworn Jansen got both. The goals were at the Holmesdale end (weren't they?).

Sorry. I'm going to be boring and predictable (again).

December 16th 1972. Palace 5 Man Utd 0. Don Rogers' first and our third as he put the ball one side of Stepney, ran round the other and squeezed the ball in from a tight angle. Pure class. Check it out on the Centenary DVD.

One of my best moments was the spontaneous pitch invasion after Damien Matthews goal levelled matters in the top of the table clash in 94. Good memories

My memory was that Bradbury's goal was at the Whitehorse in the first few minutes, Bristol equalised at the Whitehorse around about the hour mark (this is more hazy) and Jansen scored a back post header in stoppage time to win it in front of the Holmesdale.

Since my first game back in the 60's through all the trials and tribulations my best moment was that couple of minutes at Wembley after Punch's goal . The noise was something else ,the elation ,the expectation ............................

The crowd was reported at 51,801 or 51,482 although the police were letting two in at a time on the Holmesdale so the true figure must have been considerably higher.Always wondered though why two figures were quoted.Anyone know?
