Hiding details from WHOIS-SEARCH.com
Just had a surprise when somebody handed me my address on a piece of paper.

They had typed my website domain into whois-search.com and all my details came up.

Not too happy about this being a teacher and would like to remove it. Anyone know how?

If you are a non-trading individual, you will be able to opt out of the WHOIS.

There are 2 ways to do this:

1. If you are a non-trading individual, you will be able to opt out of the WHOIS by speaking to your registrar (registration agent) who in turn will modify the domain name record held by us on your behalf so that your address details are not displayed.
2. Alternatively, if you are the registrant and a non-trading individual, you can log into your Nominet online account and select the opt-out button on the Account Summary page.

As se1eagle said. Its usually part of your registration options and your ISP should be able to easily rectify online.

Enabling privacy protection on domain name could hide your private information from public's eye on whois searches. Certain registrars provide privacy protection for free and certain registrars provide privacy protection for some cost. You can inquire with your registrar and make a request for privacy protection. The update may take certain time for getting updated on whois database. You can visit www.WhoisXY.com and have a whois lookup to ensure whether the privacy protection has been updated.
