Will update spending points at the end of the group stage.

This is exactly why I run a 0.5 season before we got properly under way. I would rather a small group of committed players than a big group that we have to keep chasing around for games. Get back to what the FWL was all about.

I like this new system.

I have a very interesting fixture to play against Carnage today (hopefully).

I need a point, he needs a win. He has already spent 4.5 points on his loss to Fozzie, so can he risk spending big again? Problem is, I am ranked higher so will have to pick first... do I risk going for a low star team to save points for later rounds or go for a good team to try and make sure I get there...

Oh and I forgot to add:

For teams that played less than 3 group games, I will still be deducting spending points for the games you did not play.

We had 13.5 points to use for this competition with a maximum of 6 games to play so I'll deduct 2 points for every game not played (13.5/6 = 2.25).

Was trying to work out a way that Carnage and I could play out a result to see Fozzie knocked out... but I just can't see how it could happen

Omen - Feyenoord (3*) 2-0 Carnage - Newcastle (4.5*)

*Omen takes 1.5 points*

I went with Feyenoord into this game knowing a point would be enough to me into the next round. Carnage needed a win and got to choose his team 2nd and went with a stronger Newcastle side.

I set up with a 4-4-2 formation utilising two DM and went defensive from the off. Focussing on controlling the attacking play and only would look to press forward if I fell behind.

This seemed to frustrate Newcastle as their attacks often came down to pot shots and although they were well on top, they struggled to create any real clear cut chances.

The 2nd half saw Feyenoord bring on a faster winger and this worked as he burst down the left and sent in a cross that was controlled by Guidetti and side-footed home.

Newcastle then flooded forward, but were still restricted to mainly shots from outside the box. They were then caught on a counter attack when Guidetti got free, his first shot was saved, but he tucked away the rebound.

I can totally understand Carnage's frustrations... he had 14 shots to my 3, but basically my tactical plan worked tonight and I was very pleased with the victory. To come on top of the 'group of death' is really pleasing - even more so considering Carnage and Fozzie have (had) real chances of winning this tournament.

It just seems to be happening to me so much recently. Every game I play I try to make clear cut chances and never score, so I just ended up shooting if there was nothing on.

Well played Omen, you did keep it tight for me to do anything and feed the two strikers.

I feel your pain... I suffer the same in H2H leagues.

I think FIFA doesn't always favour the team that tries to attack and score. It seems to push players up too much leaving you open for sucker punch attacks. Teams can sit back and crowd out the attacking teams whilst the attacking teams players lack the movement needed to create chances.

However, having said that and watched Inter, Chelsea and QPR (for 89 mins) lately - maybe it is quite realistic.

Looks like I have to do some major kicking out and point deductions tomorrow.

Surprised that players like Panzer, Pallet and Hypje have not played a single game. Thought they would be regulars (Hypje was even the person that asked for the FWL to start again!)
