On a TV show where the characters have a dart board, and its not set to the correct height. The Big Bang Theory springs to mind.

I totally agree mate. This is social media at it's worst and is now totally out of hand. It was great when no-one was on it!

Example:

I now have over 150K Twitter followers and by chance one of them recognised me at Chez Bruce last week OMG

At the time I was actually dining with some quite important people and despite their clear objections I made sure that the poor bloke left with a selfie of me!!! The waiter did not know what to do with himself - after all we were in Chez Bruce LOL

With all this fake news out there at the moment, someone needs to properly deal with this before someone innocent gets hurt...with hindsight I really wonder what would have happened if I would have turned down that selfie request. How embarrassing would that have been!!

Anyways the final outcome was the waiter got a good tip to help compensate for all the commotion and even better it turned out that the selfie was retweeted quite a lot so I ended up with another 1k followers on the back of it so how about that everyone!

CamberleyEagle 15-03-2017 10:19 PM

They clearly lowered it as Stephen Hawking was coming round.

Apparently he was offered an upgrade, Windows 10 or something, but he turned it down. He droned that the voice is recognizably him and he didn't want to change it.

It was either Ucking, or Hucking as you were near the border with Kent. That was in the 1970's when I used to see it. Probably the PC police have taken it down since then :D

local social media (which I gave up on) where 'news updates' included such things as:

I made my child's packed lunch
I took my child to school
I met other parents at school

Just had an arguement at work with someone who thought Eire was part of the U.K. At first I tried explaining that he was wrong and showed him a U.K Wiki page and followed that up by showing him a map of Eire showing the border with N.I. He replied with 'So technically, I'm right 'cos they're joined'
So in summary things that annoy me today are,
1) Stupid people who refuse to accept they're wrong
2) People who think Eire is part of the U.K (I'm 2nd generation Irish and proud)
3) People who use 'Technically' in an arguement because they think it gives them wide ranging scope to talk complete and utter B***cks!!!!!

Latest 'contribution' to the world of entertainment being 'The Sally Army & Me' in which (ads) he spends most of his time with a fixed grin, laughing & yakking in a ridiculous accent. Someone shoot him PLEASE & do us all a favour. Unfortunately I can't avoid ads for his progs as they're on every day, but as soon as I see his smug face I press the MUTE button till the next ad comes on. Anyone else hate him as much as me? There is no place called Ucking. There are however lots of posts on the internet about a U-turn sign in Ucking.

And who is this PC Police? Until very recently of course our most senior justice was called His Honour Judge Judge, so I suppose there is precedent.

"When the fun stops, stop" That would be the hook for the gamble aware website which offers help to problem gamblers. It's the same as the drink responsibly tag you see on drinks adverts

steve13 17-03-2017 09:53 AM

Incorrect use of the word automatically. I regularly use a door with a sign which says, "Automatic door - push button to open" ITS NOT AUTOMATIC THEN IS IT IF YOU HAVE TO PUSH A BUTTON! Might as well have signs on all normal doors which "automatically" open if you turn the handle and push or pull.

Also on Deezer music is says, "press the button and the lyrics automatically appear". Again not automatic since a button has to be pressed!

PhuketEagle 17-03-2017 10:43 AM

Talking of auto doors...Feel sorry for those poor cashiers in 7-Eleven & Family Mart here who have to put up with 24-hour 'BING-BONG' of automatic doors opening & closing every time anyone gets near them. Drives me crazy just being a customer, the employees must be loonies after a week.

Confusing people who operate on their own frequency and think everyone else knows what the hell they are on about. Usually ends with the said person walking off thinking everyone else is stupid.

Anyone who crosses the entire width of the pavement to walk on the outside of you.

Driving on a narrow lane and the person driving towards you passes a perfectly good pull in so you then both have creep past each other wheels in the dirt.

I'm having a grumpy day today:(

I had to explain that to Mrs Maidstoned the other day, when I was telling her about the Spanish habit of moving their cars over to force you into the other lane when they see you approaching....apparently this is my fault as I shouldn't be doing it.

She still doesn't believe me.

Thing is Maz it's not the truth. The fact that you think I would need to read something online and then post it on a trivial, lighthearted thread as my own says more about you then it does me.

Forget it really, it was something from memory that made me smile, typically you've drained the fun out if for me and turned it into an argument.

Jeez, mate, grow up. At no point did I suggest anything about you whatsoever. As I stated, I simply posted the truth about the road sign.

Hard not to sometimes. The way I see it, they are coming close to you so you can high five their wing mirror.

With a fist.

People who aren't staring at their phones who don't get out of my way when they can clearly see I'm too busy to pay attention to then. What's their excuse?

Talking of which... a guy at work with a very Italian (or Spanish) name wore a bright orange shirt to work today. Not sure if it was intentional or a coincidence, but it made me smile.

Nationalism and religion - had enough of them both.

Forgetfulness. Never a useful trait as you get older.
