Breaking news in America, The New Meadowlands will host the 2014 Superbowl. That'll be the year King Kolb gets MVP for a game winning 85 yard drive to win by a point over........errrrr.......we'll go with the Bengals.

pauldrulez 25-05-2010 09:52 PM

Possibly the most unsurprising news of the offseason IMO.

There are a lot of big teams who will be next up wanting a Superbowl. Mr. Kraft will be wanting one at Gillette if the NY one goes well. I'd imagine Philly, Denver, Chi-town, and the rest will be putting in bids in the future.

Morning all,

Season is nearly here, I can’t wait. Following a number of the Ravens on twitter and listening to them building up to the season is just increasing the anticipation.

One other thing, my brother is going to San Fransisco for five days on Saturday, I want some NFL merchandise, is it possible do you think for me to order some stuff off NFL shop and get it delivered to my brothers hotel? Has anyone done this before?

Bellyman 27-05-2010 10:53 AM

I don't see why not, Swanny has ordered stuff before and got it sent to someone out in he states who then brings it back, I guess it would be no different to send to you bro in a hotel.
He would possibly need to advise hotel that he is expecting a parcel

Just found Ben's initial email from the fantasy football last year, dated 09/06/09!!!!!!!

Means we should probably get a move on with who is going to be playing this year. Is Ben about to start a new thread or can someone else do it?

From what has been said it will be the same as last year in terms of drafting and point scoringm but we are aiming to have two leagues of 10, anyone have anything else to add?

Bellyman 27-05-2010 11:15 AM

Tom, can you forward that email on to me so I can have a look at the way it works and try get my head around it all.

pauldrulez 27-05-2010 11:17 AM

Same rules as last year.

2 leagues.

I'd like to propose an inter-league competition as well.

Sort of like the FA Cup, but more important.

I'm happy to work on that as long as we get the scores.

I've done it elsewhere between 5 leagues and it worked, so might be worth a go here.

Starts Week 3 or 4 of the season (so you get used to the teams that you've got). 24 teams (i'm guessing we'll have 2 leagues of 12). Split into groups of 4. Each play each other once. Then winners and runners-up qualify leaving 12. The 12 play each other leaving 6. 6 become 3. Then it's a 3-way game for the title.

I'd propose a fiver each for that tournament between 24 of us. £80 to the winner. £40 to the runner-up?

Would make it more fun as we are competing twice and get to compete between all 24 rather than just the 12 teams in your league. I'll explain it better when i get home tonight.

Sounds good, like the idea of having a chance to play people in the other league. Not bothered about the money part though (despite my awesomeness last year)

Swanny32 27-05-2010 12:52 PM

Happy with whatever people decide, from previous experience though it's tough to get people to cough up money, but I'm game for it.

Is Commish back from Canada yet?

pauldrulez 27-05-2010 12:58 PM

I believe so.

I've seen some of his photos, so unless he's loading them from Canada, I dunno.

Swanny32 27-05-2010 01:04 PM

We still have ages to go till the season starts anyway so no rush. The Yahoo site isn't even up and running yet, still says thanks for playing. I think this year I'm going to join in on the Philly forum as well and test myself against some Yanks, not that you guys aren't a stiff competition, I just like putting the cat amongst the pigeons, an Englishman beating some Yanks at their own game! Hehehe

My sleeper team last year was the Bengals, I'm going on record now and saying that this season I fancy the Lions to go quite far and maybe even make the playoffs, although this isn't reflected in my standings posted above.

pauldrulez 27-05-2010 05:16 PM

If the Lions were in any other division, i'd agree. This year, that'll be the hardest division in football.

Not decided on a sleeper team yet, not touching the AFC though. The teams are either established as play-off calibre. Or they're shit to be fair.

NFC, I think i'll go with Atlanta and San Fran.

Cor, not really sticking your neck out on the line there Paul.

pauldrulez 27-05-2010 08:57 PM

You already said the Lions, they're my pick.

I'll go with the Rams to improve. They've got an elite QB now.

AFC, i'll go with the Patriots to improve. If i'm honest, we were a false team last year. We should have lost another 3 games. We may get the same record, but it's my opinion that we'll be a better team and if the team gels and the top guys stay healthy, it could be a great year. Other than that, i'll go with the Chiefs. I think McCluster will be the weapon that Cassel needs.

Lions, Rams, Chiefs to be better teams.
Bills to suck (0-16?)
Patriots to be the half-decent team that kick on.
