Blimey, the pictures of Brady’s cut hand/thumb look rather bad.... amazed he played so well
|
Anyone able to explain the Dolphins plan this off-season?
None of it makes sense to me. |

Prediction:
5 QBs go in the top 7. 6 in the first round. |

Cheaper replacements have been signed with a 'do your job' mentality ala New England. They're also supposed to be better 'leaders'. The Dolphins missed Tannehill badly last season and think that with his return they will return to winning ways. He is rated far more by the coaches/front office than he is by the rest of the league. Tannehill was having a very good 2016 season prior to his injury. Its possible to make a case for their defense but they need better line backers. If Tannehill can improve on 2016 they should have a decent offense, but they need a TE and another RB. Aaron Rodgers would take this team deep into the play offs. But Tannehill isn't Rodgers. |

Here's what I see happening with the first couple of picks;
1) Browns - Sam Darnold - Think this is a wrap. He'll sit behind Taylor at the start and they ease him in. 2) Giants - Saquon Barkley - If they do still believe in Eli, they have a pretty small window left to win with him. Barkley is a slam dunk hit and gives them a chance to win now. 3) Jets - Josh Rosen/Josh Allen - They HAVE to go QB. I know they have just re-signed McCown and also bought in Teddy B, but they may not get a better chance to draft a franchise QB this good for a while again. 4) Browns - Bradley Chubb - Put him on the other side to Miles Garrett. Wow. Although, I would not be surprised to see the Bills reach out to either the Giants or Browns and look to trade up to get themselves into the top four, and give themselves a chance to get one of these QB's. Its too risky to wait at #11 and hope one falls to them. Unless they believe Baker Mayfield or Lamar Jackson is that guy... Most intriguing draft in years. |

The more trades and QB's taken early doors the better; means either Minkah Fitzpatrick or Denzel Ward might fall to the Niners at #9.

I agree that the Giants will take Barkley but IMO Manning is done. When will they get as good a chance at drafting a QB? If the Bill's trade up to 6th it leave's the door open to Miami to trade into 4th (it would cost a lot) and beat them to a QB. At least two QBs will be going to the AFC east as Brady's career reaches its end. If the Giants take a QB and Barkley is available at 4 I doubt anything would make the Browns move from that spot. Which might be a problem for the Bills if they can't move above the Broncos in 5th - would they take a QB if one of the top four falls to them? They surely can't rely just on Keenum. Whatever happens the teams in 6-12 are going to have some very good non-QB talent fall to them which is great for a team like the 49er's who got a quality QB for just a 2nd round pick. |

Either way, the value of the 4th over all pick depends upon who the Jets pick at 3 and whether Barkley is off the board. Depending upon the identity of the QB(s) available at 4 either the Dolphins, Cardinals, Broncos or Bills might be interested in moving up. I could see one or more of these teams not valuing a player like Mayfield that high. That might explain why the Bills have yet to move into the 2nd, 4th or 6th pick. |
The Giants would be absolutely mental to take Barkley at 2 now.
They either go QB or they trade out to Buffalo or Denver (and in the case of Denver... still get Barkley). This is the first draft in a while that has genuine excitement as there could be 6 QBs taken in the first round. There's a lot of depth at various positions as well. |

Problem Bills will have though is that Darnold, Rosen and Allen could be all gone by that point. Are you really going to give all that up to draft Mayfield at #4? |
This might affect the Giants choice at #2.

They way I see 5 going early is if Browns, Giants and Jets all take QBs then the Bills, Dolphins and Cardinals are all scrambling for the other 2. |
No chance that Saints move up. Would cost them a fortune and would probably end up with only being able to reach Baker Mayfield. Could see them maybe taking Rudolph lower down though as you mentioned.
|
If I had to bet, I'll say the Browns take a QB, the Giants trade down with a team that takes a QB, the Jets take a QB and the Browns will be free to choose between Chubb, Barkley and Fitzpatrick at #4.
