I have to book an appointment with some sort of consultant though some chap on an Ipad loitering near the front door so that I can buy what I already know I want. What happened to picking up items, going to the till and paying for them? Maybe an Apple expert can explain for me this genius sale technique?

Commentators using the term 'lines' when talking about players.

Alot of the time it used as 'clearing his lines'

But yesterday it was on the Palace versus Watford highlights when Ayew scuffed the cross from McArthur and the commentator said something like: 'Ayew misplacing his lines'

The initial phrase doesnt mean anything, but this was an even more harpooned use of the term 'lines' to attempt to sound football smart when it had zero application, he just scuffed a shot for **** sake, nothing to do with any mythical lines. I know that the season ahead will met with this stupid phrase. Atleast my TV football viewing will go down by more than 50%...

Went to the market at 7:30 this morning and found myself in the middle of the school-run traffic. Apparently the precious little urchins went back to school this week.

It is an illogical annoyance, but bloody annoying anyway. I've rather enjoyed the quiet roads at 7:30 for the last year.

I suspect it's a generational thing, as pretty much nobody arrived at school by car back in the day.

Apple is a cult. They don't need to worry about customer service because people just hand over their money anyway. Set yourself free!

Hotel rooms that have the toilet light switch on the outside of the toilet meaning, when you go for a pee in the middle of the night, the other occupants get bathed in light when you open the door.

That’s definitely annoying and poor English too. The person could just say I will revert. That’s enough.
It’s like when people say “Hence why”. All they need is the “Hence”.
Another one is “ as of yet” , when they could just say “yet”.

All the more annoying when you realise that the one you need to take when you're abroad 72 hours before you return is likely to be a lot cheaper. €44 for a PCR test in France

Happens to me all the time too - so much so I sometimes consider making eye contact with the security guard and shrugging politely as I walk into Sainsburys pointing at my wallet. Then when I leave with a couple of bottles of scotch I haven't paid for he will just wave me through as the alarm goes off.

The other week NBC delivered the news that a fella called Schauffele became the first American golfer to win a gold medal since 1900. Finally!
They didn't bother explaining that golf was only reintroduced at the Olympics in 2016 and the only two previous times it was contested was in 1900 and 1904. But let's not ruin a good story in which Schauffele broke a U.S drought that lasted a 121 years.

Along similar lines (and I may have posted this before) I sometimes listen to the BBC World Service while driving and I'm amazed that how many of the people speaking make a discernible intake of breath sucking noise between sentences. It really grates on the nerves if you let yourself focus on it.

Not sure if it is a sound engineering problem, or an affliction of all BBC presenters. Even the on-the-hour news readers do it, and would like to think they were chosen for the job for their elocution.

Two "friends" who were looking for a place to put their 7-year-old dog as they are going on vacation as the place they usually go to closed, they had no luck.

So we found out today they dropped Maggie off at the (R)SPCA this morning, saying after 7 years of the dog being completely trustworthy and not one incident, they are now scared for the grandchildren with the dog......

Personally, I would drop all future contact with them, And tell them why.

They will make up some justification for their action. Probably invent that the dog bit one of the grandchildren.

Hope nothing happens to them on their holiday.

Some London boroughs do not have a problem with that providing the cable is covered in a special nonslip, non-trip mat.

Give it another 10 years and everyone will need to park outside their own gaff to charge their electric car overnight....how that will work in flats etc remains to be seen

What is annoying is that one of the words I have problems with is "since". I tend to always spell it "sinse" and I will get the squiggly red line saying it is wrong, but it never offers the correct spelling as an option.

Always strikes me as odd, as it would seem an obvious misspelling for dumb arses like me.

Yep, the 3 Mustangs I’ve owned were all 4 cylinder bottom of the line cars.

But they do now make some seriously powerful high performance cars (as they did in the 60’s).

I guess you could rent one from a specialist rental firm, but probably cost a fair bit.

Not sure the Pacific Coast Highway would be the best road to put it through it’s paces though.

I'm noticing the old trope that driving standards are plummeting in the UK, especially motorway driving. It seems that every motorway journey I take mine or another vehicle is almost taken out by an arsehole of a driver. I counted 5 occasions on the M20 on Saturday evening. My son (who loves cars) pointed out they and all the ridiculously speeding drivers we saw were in BMWs or Range Rovers. [emoji848]

Driving the freeways near the airport, you'll see a lot of Mustang convertibles driving around with the top down and often a suitcase propped up in the back seat.

I appreciate it must feel good for the tourist (I even did the same for my 50's birthday when we went to Hawaii), but from my experience the rental companies only carry basic models, and may have a few of the GT versions available at a price. Plus I found it is way too hot to have the roof down, especially if you get stuck in a traffic jam (sun burn with no hiding place)... and in Hawaii it kept raining!

I was upsold a convertible Mustang from a car rental place when we went to a Dude Ranch near Tucson. The look of disdain we got from one of the cowboys as we arrived still makes me cringe to this day.

I remember one of those Holiday Watchdog programmes telling visitors to Miami etc to NOT hire a convertible and have suitcases visible as there are gangs of thieves who were following unsuspecting tourists and mugging them.

My son (who loves cars) pointed out they and all the ridiculously speeding drivers we saw were in BMWs or Range Rovers. [emoji848]

Gotta get those drugs delivered.

There must be thousands of designs available, so why that one?

Perhaps because he's not politicizing the English flag, like some insist upon?

Or because he's not wholly ashamed to be English?

Or doesn't share the double standard of automatically donating racism to the St George while donating wonderful patriotism to St Andrews, the Welsh Griffin, a Jamacian flag or one from India? And making sure to lift a pint of St Paddy's while resolutely condemning anyone who thinks of going to the pub on St George's?

Or even that he is politicizing the St George flag because he knows there are so many who like to fashionably spit on it these days? And despise all who will not agree?

Please have a word with yourself. The mindset you just espoused is pathetic.

( And now I suppose I must be 'Right Wing' or 'White Supremacist' because I don't automatically take issue with anyone who dares wear the flag of their country anywhere on their person, even if they are white English? ) :S:

I won't be 'having a word' with myself on your say so.

No, you'd rather prejudge and despise, ( but only certain types of human beings ) based on an ideology rather than rationality and consistancy, then use your version of racial 'tolerance' to defend your own prejudices and double standards against the types of human beings that it is fashionable and safe to dehumanize.

But thank you for proving how entrenched your mindset is in you types of race warrior.

Got ahead of you calling me 'Right Wing' tho, didn't I? Only options for comebacks you had left were to find a way to defend your hatred ( and you can't ) or evade trying to justify it. So you chose the latter.

What I knew you would never do is admit you have a prejudice. You can't and dare not. Too much 'virtue' to lose, on these pages.

Anyway, done with you now.

Is it ok to admit to a prejudice against you? You boring twat.

Just a reminder of the post, on the "Things that annoy you thread" that triggered the latest race war post.

Here we go; a Woke type says something 'virtuously' prejudicial against white people, based on nothing more than ideology. His double standard gets pointed out yet his ideology means he cannot fess up or even produce a rational argument to justify said prejudice. He doesn't need to because that same ideology proclaims it is conveniently impossible to be prejudiced against white people.

Then his ideological mates turn up in support, make a similar zero effort to rationalize the original prejudicial comments and then make personal attacks at those who dare oppose such ideological prejudice. And throw empty insults.

What a surprise. And thank you for continuing to reveal your ideological contradictions and prejudices, that you cannot rationally justify.

People who start such 'wars' off by making prejudicial comments and then despising those who point out the prejudice.

Then their mates who blindly and cowardly defend such prejudice, to defend their group mindset and ideology.

And hello again, BE.

Cowardly? Really? (And I am not referring to your incorrect use of it in an adjectival, rather than adverbial, form). Do you think you are 'brave' by posting junk on the internet?

You're right. I imagined that stellavista wrote a post deriding anyone who wore a St George's mask, for wearing a St George's mask.

Now I'll just leave it there. I've pointed out how you lot think and the post by stellavista is plain as day. What I won't do is give you the satisfaction of another pile on. You'd need to find other victims today, I'm afraid. Sorry to derail the fun early. See ya. :p

( But you can all get some satisfaction by agreeing with each other that you are all completely right and I'm this and that, ect. No one's called me a Nazi or Right Wing yet. Maybe that's a good starting point? Have fun, lads. )

He said:

Not deriding anyone wearing one then, simply expressing something that annoys him, on the things that annoy you thread.

Very true.

Rental companies used to have licence plate holders with Avis, Hertz, Alamo etc. on them. They had to stop putting these on the car for the same reason.

Now they are conspicuous by not having any licence plate holder (most cars have one of some sort) and by having a bar code sticker in the back window.

Plus they "just look" like a rental car!

That's easy. A griffin is the one that appeared on my bag and folder that the bank gave me for school

That’s way too long. Can’t be productive.
