In hindsight if NO scored a TD earlier, then TD + 2pt conversion would have tied the game. However, if they decided to punt it, then Brees & co will have more space to get 1st down and thus burn down the clock.

OR, Brady could have got 1st down and we won't even be discussing this. I think it was a good gamble at the time by Bellichick, nothing more.
