Kind of surprised by Manning winning MVP. Not sure who else it could be though. I wonder if New Orleans made the playoffs, if Brees would have been in the picture. And did I see Pennington got second? What do you Fins people think about that? I haven't sen enough of him this year to make judgment.

Latvian Eagle 02-01-2009 11:57 PM

I guess the fact he's come in and made them 1-15 to 10-6 is a lot of the reasoning behind that to be fair!

I'd have Pennington first. With McCown or Beck or (even for all his promise) Henne behind center we'd probably have gone 4-12.

Then again, you could probably say the same about Sorgi in Indy I guess...

I am gay for Chad, and he is my MVP.

all of this i absolutely agree with.

Strathclyde Eagle 03-01-2009 08:55 AM

Me too. I think it has helped that we have played to his strengths, keeping him going with throws that require accuracy not arm strength (not a criticism, that's what good coaches should do).

Paul, what you posted about Favre's MRI refusal is staggering. Looks to me that Brett's desire to be "the man" and keep his streak going has been at his team's expense. Utterly selfish.

pauldrulez 03-01-2009 10:18 AM

Its just wrong on so many levels. They would have been better off with Pennington but got greedy within the free agent market, and they know it.

He has been throwing these moonballs for years and there is always something wrong after it. Arm, weather, doesn't like the coach etc etc.

Hall of Famer yes, better than Manning/Brady and the QBs already in there. Not in my opinion

Latvian Eagle 03-01-2009 12:27 PM

No way is he better than Manning (or pre injury Brady)... I had to say that as we have no idea whether TB will be the same player when he comes back.

Latvian Eagle 03-01-2009 12:28 PM

What interests me is that Drew Brees is one of the most highly thought of QB's in the NFL, so why did the SD Chargers get rid of him?

pauldrulez 03-01-2009 03:44 PM

They rated Rivers higher I guess. Nice to have 2 Quarterbacks like that in your team  Especially when you have a team like KC struggling with 2 below-average and one average QB.

Anyway. I turned down the UKPatriots offer of tickets as they wanted £102 per ticket to sit behind the bench. •••• that, i'll go over there and pay that to sit behind the bench in Foxboro. So I am in the lottery with everyone else. And hoping and praying for tickets. Anywhere will do. I'll be seeing some of the players at their media availability as I will be scrounging my way in with the people on the radio show. Well, hopefully as they are doing a live show from wherever the Pats are staying/training.

And for my fellow tools. Toolio is in the BB House :lux:

Because of Phillip ••••••• Rivers.

He threw a hissy fit because he wasn't playing and the pussies in San Diego gave into him and got rid of Brees. This pisses me off to no end because I really think SD could have won it all on the past couple years with Brees and LT. I only care about the situation becuase Brees is a Boilermaker... but it still makes me furious that this cocky, unproven no one could drive a starting QB out. Rivers has turned out to be a good QB, but he'll never be a Brees. He'll never win an MVP. And this my friends, is why I ••••••• hate Phillip Rivers :veryangry

And breathe......

Strathclyde Eagle 03-01-2009 04:25 PM

Boiler up. :D

Drew Brees is the only reason I'll have ever seen Purdue in the Rose Bowl in my lifetime.

jlmatthews 03-01-2009 05:15 PM

But anyways, back to the pros. Go Indy! •••• A Whale's Vagina!

(Props to you if you get that joke)

AddiscombeEagle 03-01-2009 05:16 PM

Thank god it is Saturday night, been looking forward to the four games all week. Lets hope we get some tight games with the exception of the Ravens tonking the phish.

On top of that Brees looked like he had his arm destroyed in that last game loss to Denver a few seasons ago. I figured he was gonna be out for the next season at least, but the doctors did a job getting his arm back together.

Not sure how the Falcons can win today. I don't think they can get enough consistent pressure on Warner to keep him from finding Fitzgerald and Boldin constantly.

davematt 03-01-2009 07:33 PM

I am thinking that it will be two on the road victories tonight. Am really backing Atlanta mainly because of Matt Ryan and the rookie QB story. He has been incredible all season.

In the 2nd game in Sol Cal, it all depends which Chargers team turns up tonight. They are so hit and miss.

Four great games though; all should be close, tight encounters.

AZ is tough at home... but has been an absolute steaming pile of shit the past month or so. Will be an interesting battle. I think the key is ball control for the Falcons. Keep their D off the field for a while and eat up some time on the clock.
