My question would be, why do they decide the awards like MVP and Rookie of the year before the post season? As if, as I expect, Flacco leads the Ravens to the championship game he should be rookie of the year over Ryan. No offence to Ryan, I've been a fan of his this season ...

Cassel nowhere near him right now, but it must be bad to see your backup do so well while you basically sit out and waste a season.

Although there is a difference between Palmer and Cassel and Leinart and Cassel in college.

There was no competition between Carson and Matty. He was miles better, end of.

But Leinart and Cassel was a fierce competition, a bit like Warner and Leinart where they competed for the spot. So pretty bad at the Arizona game where they got their asses whupped by Cassel. Brought Leinart in who got picked, brought Cassel back for a Moss screen 76yarder and then let him rest.

I think I said it before, but get rid of the ProBowl.

Pick the teams and then have a charity week with competitions between the players.

Disagree that its in Miami in 2010 as its supposed to be a holiday for the players.

People earning multi-million dollars a year don't need all-expenses-paid trips to Hawai'i.

Suppose that is true, but if they could get a lot of charity money out of it then it would be worth it.

They could probably spend the money on something more useful.

1. Cassel has not yet been franchised.
2. I always said that the only way Cassel would be franchised would be if Brady looked like missing the entire 2009 season, which at present is the main driver behind Cassel being talked about as being tagged.

I'll apologise when or if it happens but I'll still stand by the reasons I previously gave for why it would or wouldn't happen :)

Rich Eisen paints the Pro Bowl in a very positive light in his book as a great place for players from rival teams to socialise and wind down with their families. And the tabs are played for by the players - he tells a couple of funny tales about rookie pro bowlers ending up with entire bar bills on their room, and Marshall Faulk being so tight that he never pays for anything.

It was either Peterson last year. Or someone else the year before that.

The Pro Bowl has some great stories and some sad stories, and despite it being a pointless game, it is fun to watch.

OK, so maybe they pay some expenses but I'm sure the sponsors fall over themselves to pay for flights, hotels, rental cars, etc.

"Ah man, I'm so broke. I only took home about $5m this year but some c*nt hit me for a $200 bar bill at the Pro Bowl..."

Oh, and I fully agree to an extent about the timing of voting. Voting for MVP/annual awards should start at the end of the regular season as it is a regular season award.

I suspect that they'll say about Pro Bowl voting finishing early being a measure to allow people who aren't taking part to schedule holidays/surgeries/etc.

I agree, he does. The build up to the ProBowl on NFL Total Access is all very positive and looks very good for the fans if they can get there and see it. I guess having it in Miami is much more accessable than Hawaii ....
