I enjoyed the Senior Bowl.

JP Wilson started well leading a long drive for a TD on his 2nd drive.

Pat White (the QB they want to turn into a receiver) threw some good passes but did struggle with accuracy at times.

The 3 USC linebackers had a good first drive and then were very average. But, they made the odd stand-out play between them.

Graham Harrell was shockingly bad despite starting with the first team offense. His first snap under center, he dropped back, tripped, stumbled and just got the pass away before getting squashed.

Oher (the OT) had a poor game by his standards and from what i've read had a bad week in the camps as well.

Robiskie (I think thats his name) pulled himself up draft boards throughout the week and had a solid game. As did Derrick Williams. Both are WRs.

Two secondary players stood out for different reasons, CB Alphonso Smith and S William Moore. Smith dropped a pick-six, but was solid and has had a great week. Moore is rated highly, but made a good play and hurt his ankle. Looking back through his career, he is very injury-prone which may cause his stock to fall.

Number 1 winner this week: B.J Raji, DT, Boston College.
Big winners - USC Linebackers (Maualuga, Cushing and Matthews), Pat White

Number 1 loser this week: James Laurinaitis, LB, Ohio State. Declined invitation to the Senior Bowl where other Linebackers have stepped up and possibly gone ahead of him.

Big Losers - Graham Harrell, Michael Oher. Oher, as a left tackle needs to be able to pass block in the NFL, which he struggled with last night and through the week.

Just watched Americas Game on '76 Raiders with John Madden at the helm. Damn I love this programme! Interesting how a bunch of renegades (tolled up with arms in casts at that! :D ) made it all the way to the Superbowl having been the form side for a number of years before. I have a lot of time for Madden and what he did, comes across a great guy. Don't know if that is the general perception though ...

The Raiders of the late 70s is a team I love to watch. Brilliant players, brilliant playbooks.

Most of that team are pretty iconic (Shell, Upshaw, Banaczak, van Eeghan, Tatum, Biletnikov, Guy, Casper, Stabler etc).

Did they interview Villapiano, the MLB??? He comes across as a complete dick in some interviews I've seen.


One of the teams that I could literally watch all day. Probably along with Dallas and Pittburgh of the late 70s, Buffalo of the early 90s, Browns of the late 80s and the Bears of the 80s. Oh, and the Air Coryell chargers.

Yes, Steelers probably as they claimed the Raiders as brutal. They hated each other. I think the opening game of the 76 season was these two and the Raiders won with plenty of dirty tricks and late hits ... I think the chamionship game ended up between the two before the Raiders went on and won ... great viewing.

One great point was that teh Raiders final game agants the Browns or Bengals, a loss would mean the Steelers wouldn't make it. It was all in the press saying why would the Raiders win the game. But that simply riled Madden and the players and they went out and thumped the opposition.

Yes, thats the guy I would have mentioned, Villapiano. He just wanted a fight all the time and he came across in that manner on the programme. He didn't look much like a thug though ...

Probably one of the best AGs I have seen so far.

Elliott mentioned the Bills - they lost 4 in a row. The Browns of the late 80's didn't even make a Superbowl and the Bears won 1. The Dallas of the late 70's won 1 and lost 2 in 4 years.

We WON 3 in 4 years. Dynasty or not (which I think that team was, as it goes), they were more successful than most of the teams Elliott suggested.

I've been doing my research today. Mainly thanks to my growing interest in the America's Game programme which paints a great picture (if a somewhat more dramatised one which the yanks are good at :) ) ....

1. Team of the 60s has to go to Lombardi's Green Bay Packers with SB wins in '67 & '68 but more interestingly they did not return to the Superbowl until until '97 as winners and '98 as losers. A team that seems to do things in spurts ...

2. A special mention to the Minnesota Vikings who were the perenial bridesmaids reaching the Superbowl on four different occassions and not getting there since ... Buffalo Bills could be called the same after four consecutive defeats from '91 to 94, as could have been the Broncos until they won consecuitve titles in '98 and '99 ...

3. Kansas City Chiefs flirted with the competition in the late '60s before being triumphant in 70 and never to get there again since ...

4. Dallas Cowboys flexed their muscles by losing to the Colts in '71 and then winning the following season, losing out to the Steelers in '76 and then fhree in four seasons in '93, '94 and '96.

5. My hatred for the 49ers was evident in the 90's as that was my old mans team but they along with the Steelers and Cowboys lead the way with five titles each ...

I'm sure there is more I could mention here but I won't bore you as you probably know and you may be correcting any of the above ... but it has been interesting reading ... more so since 1999 which was probably the last season I followed until the Giants win last year ...
