Yea we seem to be rebuilding nicely, agree with the sentiments about Dawkins, I was a bit shocked, but when I saw what he was offered elsewhere, wasn't a surprise we didn't want to commit the same kind of money.

High hopes this year, although does depend on the draft, fingers crossed for another run to the championship game!

Fingers crossed! :p

Having trouble with the internet, but just a few things.

1) I'm not saying Detroit signing a deal with someone is wrong.

What i'm saying is that I would like to watch the Draft without knowing beforehand what is going on. So if they could stop it leaking out it would be helpful. Or not hold a Press Conference beforehand.

2) Mangini needs to make a decision on Quinn or Anderson or neither. He is in with a chance of getting Cutler if he wants to and has the option of providing a QB in return to the Broncos alongside a pick. He can also help out the Jets by adding a QB to their deal in return for a pick and make a three-way deal.

Finally, schedule-wise.
1) I love the throwback uniforms.

Despite my love for the red throwback, I can't say no to the white one. I think the ProShop will be receiving an order for a Brown 80 White Throwback in the very near future.

2) I cant wait for the Bills and TO to enter Foxboro on the first Monday Night game of September. Brady returns, Owens arrives in the AFC East and the throwbacks. Couldn't ask for anymore than that.

Yikes, is that Denver wearing that kit second from the left? That kit? The infamous yellow/brown combination? Cutler should state that as his reason for wanting to be traded, no-one could argue with him.

pauldrulez 25-03-2009 08:12 PM

As someone said on a different site, when did Cutler join the Browns :D

And how ironic that Josh is holding the Number 6 shirt.

San Diego's shirt looks familiar. They wear it more than their dark blue one :D

Indeed. I'm sure the Lions, and the Fins last year are taking your feelings and needs into consideration throughout this whole process. :clown:

saxoneagle 25-03-2009 09:21 PM

Oh, and McDaniels wasn't holding Cutler's shirt for irony, I can pretty much guarantee that.

pauldrulez 26-03-2009 09:27 AM

a) Cutler thing was a joke.
b) There are more than enough people complaining about picks leaking out.

I prefer it to be like when the Titans took Chris Johnson despite in the 7 mins leading up to the pick, Mayock, Eisen, Dukes and Charles Davis debating which WR they would take :D

So throwback kits will be worn next season again?

elliott 26-03-2009 01:50 PM

the 8 AFL teams will wear theirs for 2 games each i think.

nookiebear 26-03-2009 02:47 PM

so then, how does everyone feel about the an 18-game season?

I'd be up for that. Can't get enough NFL :) There'd only be two pre-season games

Looks like it might happen in 2011

The Patriots will be wearing theirs against the Bills in week one.
The Chargers will be wearing theirs against the Raiders in week one.

Pats-Jets and Chargers-Broncos are other game likely to involve throwbacks. And from what i've heard, Patriots-Broncos may involve throwbacks as well as Chiefs-Raiders.

I like it, but who will the extra 2 games be against?

I'd say there would be a way of doing 19 games and playing an extra 3 inter-conference games against teams that finished the same position as you.
e.g Dolphins, Titans, Chargers, Steelers, Cardinals, Giants, Panthers, Vikings.
Dolphins already play the 3 AFC teams as well as the Panthers, so you add the other 3 in to the schedule to keep it easy to arrange.

Sort of... ;)

nookiebear 26-03-2009 04:36 PM

On idea they have is 17 games, with the 17th games played in neutral venues, around the world...

pauldrulez 26-03-2009 04:41 PM

But, how do they choose the 17th game?

Bit like the 39th game in the Prem?

Because say the Broncos are 8-8 and the Chargers are 8-8 like this year.

The Broncos get the New York Giants over in Beijing.

The Chargers get the Detroit Lions in Germany.

Not exactly fair is it?

nookiebear 26-03-2009 06:19 PM

No, it wouldn't be. I don't think they'll do that. I think it'll be 18 games

elliott 26-03-2009 06:59 PM

The current fixture cycle comes to an end after this season doesn't it?

They can think of a way of adding an extra game.

eg

Play 6 games against your division.
Play 4 games against interconference teams (on a 4 year cycle)
Play 4 games against intraconference teams (on a 3 year cycle)
Play 3 games against teams with the same position (this is normally 2, but add the intraconference team and your laughing).

Easy.

So the extra game is another game against the team that finished in the same position as you, from your intraconference. Admittedly this means you'll play a team twice, but I think that if your going to play every team in your conference in your position, you may as well do it properly and play all 3 rather than 2. Thus taking strength and weakness of some conferences out of it.

elliott 26-03-2009 07:01 PM

Just realised that I haven't exactly described that well unless you know how NFL scheduling currently works!

Each division plays another division from within their conference and from outside of their conference (on a 3/4 year rotation).

pauldrulez 26-03-2009 09:24 PM

19 games would be the perfect fit as I described with the Dolphins scenario above.

But that won't happen.

17 could cause unfair games.
18 is possible but may involve repetitive games.
