there's nothing like kicking off dirt.

IMO kickers have it easy. technology etc has made it easy to be a kicker.

dirt infields is the big leveller.

bring back the 70s, astroturf, dirt infields and cookie cutter baseball fields!!!

Plus it makes me look intelligent on other sites when I see a tweet from Schefter, LaCanfora, Peter King, Florio or one of the local Boston guys about the Patriots.

I broke the news on Patsfans.com about Richard Seymour, Terrence Nunn to PS, cutting Greg Lewis and things like that.

It's a shame i'm banned from there.

But, I do get tweets both to and from Christopher Price as well as some Follow Fridays from him and got one from RodneyH37 whoever that is ;)

Wow .. there were some massive hits this week. What is it about NFL that makes you enjoy these? May sound sick ... I think the Bears TE Carlsson (?) got a couple big time ...

Currently enjoying this weeks Steve and Jeff show. It came out a day late after their trip back from Dallas. Listening to their experience there is amusing ...

Massive hits are good in any sport, particularly NHL and Australian Rules Football.

Just a fast and easy way to access information about things you are interested in. Its usefulness all depends on who you follow.

I follow:
About a half dozen comedic sports writers
About a half dozen comedians
Score updates from the BBC
Score updates for Australian sport
A couple related to the Green Bay Packers
A couple related to the Montreal Canadiens and the NHL
A couple related to new music news

Most tweets will have a link to a story or a photo, click the link and you read the story or see the pic.
Easy.

I love Twitter as well now.

I follow all the ESPN and NFLN guys like the experts, Schefter and LaCanfora as well as other personalities like Dukes.
Mike Reiss, Chris Gaspar and a couple of other local Patriots media people.
The four Patriots twitter feeds including @realpatriots which comes from within the organisation and revealed draft picks a good 3/4 minutes before Lord Goodell got to the podium.
Some famous people.
Young up-and-coming Music people like Tinchy Stryder, Pixie Lott and all that.
Palace feeds.
David 'Bumble' Lloyd.

And loads more. Mostly people I know and other Patriot fans.

It's worth joining.

Swanny32 24-09-2009 05:03 PM

Yeah, you really aren't selling it to me.

jazman 24-09-2009 05:14 PM

I have a life. Some people may dispute that though ... :o

pauldrulez 24-09-2009 06:28 PM

I rarely update mine (I did in the car this morning), I tweet to others rather than myself.

I have Twitter on my sidebar.

I've just found out that Rodney Harrison doesn't like low hits, but doesn't mind Hines Ward hits.

I found out that the Patriots PS has had a change.

And that Wes Welker returned to practice. But Jerod Mayo didn't.

And there are a couple of music things and a tweet from Fearne Cotton.

But, I guess it's not for everyone.

Interesting chat on the latest RandR podcast ... about Tom Brady and the fact that he just isn't the same player this season. lack of confidence shines through the fact that he is not confidently planting the front foot when winding up for a throw ... Less than 50% pass rate at the weekend as it? Unheard off but I guess the best can have off days. But the big question is, can he become the player he was before teh injury or will he be one that is always looking out for that tackle ....

I actually thought Oz did a pretty good job of selling it myself. I use it along pretty similar lines.

Well a huge thing for me has been going from a job with unlimited access to the net to no access to the net. I get Twitter updates to my phone (through Twitroid on my G1) and therefore I get news which I want to read coming through to me, ready for when I want it.

If I was at a job with lots of web access I could happily sit and Google (or use RSS) all day, but for me it is a big time saver.

Now I just have to discuss with Dave getting the non-Palace junk off the BBS Twitterfeed.

Have included my current feed as it presently looks to give you an idea of what you might have.

If you have a massive injury like that I think it is only human to be worried about having the same thing happen again. That's what I keep hearing going around, that the mental scars are just as tough to get over as the physical ones.

I can understand from that point of view for sure fella, I have just never got into it ... yet I guess .. I have far too much that keeps me occupied online that I'm probably afraid to ... :) Saying that, I can see my company going down the route of more limited access as we get idiots in the office watching programmes online at lunch particularly iPlayer which slows the whole damn thing down, even the BBS. They have already blocked YouTube and Facebook so it's only a matter of time, particularly as we provide online access to clients ...

I'll give my thoughts on Brady now.

I'm sure you're all waiting with baited breath ;)

For me, it is the old Brady.

As in, the Brady that was like this in the 02 season. When he was trying to step up to the role after replacing Bledsoe. That was a team that relied on D to win games. And therefore didn't repeat in 2002. The team was turned over and a RB added in 2003 with a very good defense. That team won two in a row.

This week, Brady had virtually no time to throw the entire game. He had a running game. But, the coaches did not use the running game.

Let me run some stats by you.

100 - throws by Brady in two weeks
67 - plays in the Jets game.
65 - plays that had 3WR/1TE/1RB. This was Moss, Galloway (awful, cut him, bring in Nunn) and Edelman. Who this time last year was a College quarterback and is now a slot receiver. They played 65 plays each.

That is not a Belichick offense. When you run the same positions over and over again, a D gets used to the plays. There was also the stupidity of every player wearing a wristband with the plays on. Bill O'Brien (defacto OC/QB coach) and Practice Squad QB/WR Isaiah Stanbeck stood on the sideline with boards with numbers on, to show what play to run.

When a team makes that any changes to an offense in a week, it is hard, especially when you lose Wes Welker just before the inactives are announced and you have a 7th round QB playing WR. He lined up in the wrong place 50% of the time, meaning Moss was running around getting him in the right place.

The true Brady was the Brady that played in the 2nd half of the Buffalo game. I have the game on my computer and also have the Jets game. He threw about 10% of his passes in the Jets game with his front foot firmly planted. It was like Brady was playing one play and the Receivers were running the routes of another play.

Every pass in the 2nd half against the Bills was inch perfect. That was the 2007 Brady.

Until the 2nd half of this season (after the Wembley game/Bye), then I expect to see the REAL New England Patriots. When the defense clicks, Brady clicks with the offense and we get LeVoir off Pup and Brandon Tate off NFI to return kicks and be a legitimate option at WR.

But, until then, I expect him to struggle. He has no connection with Galloway. They are refusing to run the ball consistently. And no full back doesn't help as we use either Morris or Green-Ellis at FB and they barely push the pile meaning no converting 3rd/4th and 1.

I just hope that we are not too far behind the Jets when the Wembley game rolls around.

Man, I feel so negative.

pauldrulez 24-09-2009 07:06 PM

I'll catch up on NFL R&R on the train to WBA on Sat. I hope it's not too funny otherwise i'll look strange again.

Agree completely and what was being said ... it would put me off for life I think ... always looking for that next hit ... must be on the mind all the time ...
