The fact that the season is underway, Romo has had his pre season confidence knocked out of him a bit, their wouldn't be the same feeling around the game as there was a couple weeks ago due to it not being the first game at the new stadium, lots of different factors that may or may not effect the players. Maybe I'm wrong, who knows, I just think that the Cowgirls looked better that week than I had seen them almost all of last season and definitely better than yesterday.
|
That being said, that would make it a tough game for the Giants which was what the original debate was about. I just think that if the Giants went to Dallas now it wouldn't be so close.

But yes you are right, the Cowboys did give the Giants a tough game. My initial point about the Giants was that they are yet to take on any in form sides to really see where they are. Eagles have, and duly got trounced. And to be fair to the Cowboys, you have lost to two 4-0 sides, Redskins lost to a 1-3 team. |

I just don't get what all the hype is about Philly ... They don't have anything more than we or the Skins have ... just because Vick signed and the press circus arrived in town. I admit, you finished the season well last year but you didn't start that well just like us this year .... you have some weapons but you also lost a few players as well ... I really don't know enough to comment really but I class McNabb in the similar vein as Romo ... can be great, can be bad, very bad ... as for Corn on the Cob, yes, he is a worthy backup and may work towards being a good starter at some stage ... but Vick, will he really be used that much or only on certain plays that McNabb is either not as agile or too old play? |
I'd really have liked to see a shootout between McNabb and Brees, unfortunately it wasn't to be. I still think we'd have lost the game and Brees was on fire but at the same time McNabb would have given the entire team that little bit more confidence which could have given us a little bit more of an opportunity to beat the Saints. Didn't help that Samuel had an absolute shocker that day who is someone we really rely on on Defence.
Moving on, and Ben is probably going to have something to say about this comment, but was anyone else happy to see the Phins win at last? Made it that much sweeter that it was against TO and the gang. |

Nice argument. And it didn't involve me :)
But, I disagree that you get a 2nd/3rd for Vick. No team will start him without seeing something from him first. I'd give you the same we gave for Greg Lewis :grrr: :grrr: |

As for TO, he was brought up last night on why the Cowboys let him go. The journo in the studio stuck up for the Cowboys in saying that he is not the player he was four years ago and now injury prone which has been proven already this season. I was happy with the decision as it gives others a chance and not just Roy Williams. I like the look of Sam Hurd and he will get a chance this season ... the only bad thing about it, if it is a bad thing is that we do not have that player that the opposition are worried about, TO could make plays, he had the experience to do it. But the headaches that came with it were probably out-weighing that last season and it was time for a fresh start ... |

The hype about the Eagles is based on our offensive weapons, the sheer number we now have is the feather in our cap. We have the established players McNabb and Westbrook, but the main changes are: Desean Jackson - 2nd year, now number 1 WR, has the potential to be a top class WR, has pace to burn. Brent Celek - Now number 1 TE, big man, good hands, reliable, fights for the extra yard. Maclin and McCoy - rookies, but both with big play potential, especially towards the end of the season, adds depth if we do suffer injuries, or variety and more targets if we dont. Personally I don't think Vick will do a massive amount, he's a good option when things aren't working in a tight game, but don't want him to break McNabb's rhythm when he gets in the flow. The other side of the coin is that I think we are a lot weaker defensively, and that showed up against the Saints. But people generally get excited by offences and that's what we've got now! My revised prediction now would probably be: Giants 12-4 Eagles 11-5 Cowboys 9-7 Redskins 7-9 |
7-9 Redskins, bit generous Tom!

Just a healthy debate about how shit the Cowgirls are! :p
Also a valiant effort at winding Jaz up. :D |
And of course how good the Eagles are :)

I can't disagree with what you have said there but in my rose tinted specs I predicted 11 and 5 for us before the season started and I really think it is achievable ... although if Romo carried on like this he could lose us all those 7 games you have put us down as so I see your point :D But my question is, which four teams are going to beat the Giants this year? |

Cue EEIE .... ;) :p |
I think you are overrating the Eagles.
To put them 1 game behind the Giants is frankly bizarre. |
Hell, i'll join Jaz to defend the :moo:girls,
They've been close in their 2 losses, and only came unstuck through Romo's stupidity and an excellent defense against them. |

Ravens Defense looked good at times, but when they were spread-out, they struggled. Offense took time to click and were unlucky on the final drive of the first half with an excellent interception by Bodden. Patriots offense still didn't hit top gear though. Lacking something again, not sure what, but they were lacking. Defense is clicking though, they have their struggles, especially with the CB rotation, though that improved after the first drive. (We are mix-and-matching. One drive Bodden/Springs, next drive Wilhite/Butler). But it's nice to see the depth in the secondary. Merriweather shocked me. He was everywhere. Best performance he's had as a Patriot. Hope he continues. The guy who got hurt for the Ravens. He went to Mass General, but couldn't fit in the MRI machine. He flew home with rest of the team though. Great game to watch (despite it taking 3 and a half hours). |
