The only 4th quarter comeback stat that matters in this debate is the following:

Career 4th quarter comebacks in the Super Bowl:
E Manning 1
P Rivers 0

You can't discount the f*cking rings, it is what careers are defined upon ultimately unless you are a Brett Favre or an Emmitt Smith and you have the yards and the TDs to backup your performances (although they have rings too, you know).

In this argument, you can't discount the fact one has won it all and one has won f*ck all.

Please. Stop it.

Exactly.

Without the rings and the trophies, you judge the ability.

Who is/was a better player, Theo Zagorakis or Luis Figo?

Ahmad Bradshaw and LT aren't team leaders. However, I'd also add that Bradshaw was able to produce the goods when it mattered last year too while LT ran up junk yards against poor opponents but couldn't do it in the play-offs when it mattered most.

Jared Lorenzen was the f*cking third string so yes, he has a ring, but any football fan with any knowledge or common sense (both of which you are seriously lacking) would know he wasn't the leader of that team. I know you are trying to prove a point, but how many other 3rd string QBs can you name with rings? Who was the 3rd QB to Montana, Favre, Elway, Aikman, Namath, P. Manning? See, they've all won a ring and the names trip off the tongue. No-one will remember Rivers in 20 years time if he doesn't win anything. Unless he does something Marino-like. Ha!

And then as you bought it into the equation, yes, Theo Zagorakis has the following global honours:
Leicester - League Cup 2000
AEK Athens - Greek Cup 2000
Greece - Euro Champs 2004

Pretty good for an average player, yes.

Figo has 4 La Ligas, 3 Serie As, a Champions League, a CWC, 2 Super Cups, Copa del Reys, Coppa Italias.

Not to mention that football doesn't have a single pivotal role like American Football does.

Argument over.

:hi:

I think Paul's constant references to Eli "Tramp" Manning show his real reasons in this argument and frankly it is pathetic.

ardeo 11-12-2008 12:22 PM

Anyone looking forward to the game tonight?

Reckon the Bears should make it back to back wins and end the Saints hopes of a wildcard.

Don't start on Romo. This is an argument between Rivers v Manning and I know who I would chose out of the two. No competition.

Because he looks like a tramp?

Just like Peyton looks like a bod. And Favre should be in a nursing home retired.

Everyone has those that they like and that they dont like. I dont hate either Manning and I respect Peyton Mannings achievements, but frankly comparing his Superbowl ring to his brothers' would be stupid as well. They are incomparable for now.

For an example of those I like and those I dont, I like Aaron Rodgers, I dont like Brett Favre (who knew?):p

I like Jerod Mayo and Rashard Mendenhall (I love Vernon Gholston) but I dont like McFadden and McKelvin(that 85yd return:()

Spot on. Hatred for all things New York it seems ;)

Paul - can you not learn to slow down a little? Everyone has an opinion but not everyone constantly bangs it home with a sledgehammer!!!

I like Jacobs, Umenyiora, Gholston, Ty Law (when he holds Moss and still lets a TD in ;))

I've gone for the Saints in pick contests, but its probably the closest game of the (long) weekend for me

Yes, but because of your likes and dislikes, you are unable to have a rational discussion about the players without bringing personal feelings into it. That's why you post so much sh*t on here.

And I agree you can't compare the two Manning rings - Eli's was much tougher to win so he is much further ahead.

Gholston is not a football player.

I must have missed that.

I think you'll find I mentioned that he looked a great prospect after his cameo in the final quarter of the Seahawks match and I wouldn't be too worried if Barber could not play against the Steelers.

If nothing comes of our season, the shining light has been the progress of Jones, Bennett and Choice. And possibly the return of our D in the last few matches!

But surely if you can respect Peyton Mannings record you have to bow to better judgement and say the same for Eli?

pauldrulez 11-12-2008 12:43 PM

I meant the 49 TD record at the time ;)

Should have made that clearer.

And LOL at Gholston not being a football player.

I got that NFL Head Coach yesterday and ended up losing most of my 2009 draft picks in getting Gholston, Mayo, Mendenhall and someone else.
Great game, I franchised Samuel, got Moss out of FA and Asomugha as well.

Shame I lost most of the real Patriots:(

But thats for the Computers and Gaming thread.

Now, I must find my quote about Choice to prove myself right

jazman 11-12-2008 12:45 PM

No need Paul, I'll beleive you
