Surely that’s the problem with basing a title run on D. I’m impressed with how well the offence did and looking back on it there’s no shame in losing to this Pats side.

Bortles played what was probably his best game in what’s got to be his final game for the jags surely. Cant see them paying £19m next season for his services.

I agree with Paul. I'm never comfortable or confident watching the Pats. It's like Palace - we could be 3-0 up in the 4th minute of 5-minutes time added on and I'd still be nervous. I felt worst last night when we actually led near the end! But we pulled it out again, just.

I do feel a couple of calls went our way but I don't think you can say the officiating won us the game, like I kept reading on Twitter last night.

I'm looking forward to the Super Bowl this year but I'd rather we'd have played the Vikings. I'm not sure I could stomach losing to the obnoxious Eagles (and yes, they do have a higher proportion of obnoxious fans than most, despite what you lot might say).

Aside, this is a fun website:

:D

The record time without an arrest of an NFL player, on any team (since 2000), is 65 days!

:D

They need to go all out for the best available QB, they have great co-ordinators already, but if they can open up that playbook, they’ll be deadly. Can’t wait to see them in London again.

Biggest credit paid to them is how far into the playbook Belichick went. Trick plays on offense and exotic blitzing on defense.

It may be boring to watch for some, but you can’t argue it’s not fun to watch them attempt to come back in games.

Only poor decision by the Jags was kneeling out the first half. Try a screen or a run, something different and you never know. Don’t waste opportunities to score whether you’re winning or not

Incredible that an injury hit, rookie reliant Niner offence under Jimmy Jesus put 44 points on that D.

What a crap couple of results

I've only ever met lovely Eagles fans. All teams have their ***** and i'm sure New England have their fair share too.

But yeah. GWAN THE EAGLES! I'm by no means a massive american football fan and since getting rid of Sky, haven't watched much. But now the Eagles are in the super bowl, might have to find a stream and actually watch! When is it?

Do you need a stream? It's usually shown on BBC here in the UK.

This. Doesnt have the arm strength or accuracy over longer distances to be a superbowl QB. Not many do to be fair, but you have to take a chance on a younger franchies QB that could be, rather than paying over the odds for a steady QB.

Ultimately, the best 2 QBs out of the 4 saw their teams through. The way the Vikings collapsed 1st half was pretty shoddy and surprising. I almost enjoy the route to the Superbowl more than the Superbowl itself. This one could be a good one though

greybot 22-01-2018 12:39 PM

I'd like us to stick with him. He is young and can learn from this experience. he took us from a 3-13 season to one game from the Superbowl. He has been excellent for us more times than he's been bad.

$19m is a lot of dosh to pay him next year though...

Everyone is talking like the $19m is a done deal - there's nothing stopping the Jags extending his contract and renegotiating his deal.

Now, whether he'd want to is another matter... but if you tell him you're building a team around him for the next 4/5 years and ask him to spread out some money over that time to allow them to make other signings, then just maybe...

Very true.

You do wonder though (if the Jag's aren't 100% sold on him long term) if they'll be prepared to move up in the draft to acquire one of these QB's coming out.

They have the pieces pretty much everywhere else and don't have any major players in a contract year (bar Bortles I believe...).

It's been a while since I watched, I thought it was only on Sky Sports. Great news if it's on bbc :p

The draft is always a gamble, especially at QB... at least with Bortles they know what they have.

And is Cousins, who has been linked, really a significant step up from Bortles?

I am somewhat concerned for the mild mannered, sheltered people of Boston when they come face to face with the Philly fans in a couple of weeks.
