I know what you mean, Spike. Overseas players used to have semi-permanent status with a single County team in years gone by (Lloyd - Lancs, Haynes & Daniel - Middx, Procter - Glocs, Marshall & Barry Richards - Hants, Clarke & Howarth - Surrey, Garner & Viv Richards - Somerset, Rice, Hadlee - Notts, Imran Khan - Sussex).

Now, as you say, Counties and players seem to have adopted a revolving door policy. I agree it’s a shame.

And my hero in the seventies Asif, although there was the one magnificent season later from Arivinda Da Silva.

So far he has 1/347 for them in 1st class games and 1/173 in T20s.

He managed to get another wicket :lux:
An opposition bowler caught on the boundary slogging. :clown::moo:

Jeez, Essex look in a hurry against Derbyshire. 400 up inside 75 overs, with Dan Lawrence currently 150* at > run a ball...

desperado 15-05-2021 03:45 PM

After three days 'play' at Taunton a total of sixty eight overs have been bowled

Surrey will no doubt be rotating their team after this game, to give the bowlers a rest...

Been a bit out of the loop after hip op. What's happening with Surrey t20 tickets? Got the first 3 social distance ones but what about the next 4 starting with Essex.? Are they as per norm using your card or do you have to apply separately?

Been told by Surrey the other games I just turn up with card.

Webb 20-05-2021 05:07 PM

Anyone following/at the Surrey game?

Was watching the live stream while working, going on nicely in tricky conditions 135-0, but went away for an hour. Now 142-6.

Just turn up, I think, post 21st June.

I've booked in a group with non members so allocated seats for those but as far as I can see members block is unreserved.

Six wickets lost for seven runs. Good old Surrey.

So, it was your fault then :)

desperado 20-05-2021 06:23 PM

Surrey score 135 runs for the first wicket then rain sends the players to the pavilion with the score 146-6

Another outstanding performance

I was there. At lunch, I did say to my mate that I couldn’t believe that we were 95-0 after being put in. Apart from the 1st Murtagh over, Rocky & Burns didn’t really look in any trouble.

Looked like Middx bowlers had some home truths delivered at lunch - was no surprise that all 6 wickets were LBW or caught WK/slip.

Middx definitely had the better of the day but not by much, considering the conditions - horribly overcast & windy all day.

The two Richards - Thompson & Gould - were in attendance but I didn’t speak to either. New stand looks decent but difficult to comment as only one small lounge was open due to it not being finished.

Back tomorrow for more of the same (difficult batting conditions & rubbish weather) tomorrow. Play until tea, I expect. Could go either way.

Anyone else there tomorrow?
