Look at NFL Network, I'm watching it. Chargers have just traded with the Patriots.

pauldrulez 27-04-2008 03:40 PM

The KC Chiefs have had one hell of a draft so far. Dorsey, Albert and Flowers. Cottam has just gone to them as well. They will look good next year.

pauldrulez 27-04-2008 03:41 PM

and Charles as well 3 picks before.

I guess that will be something to worry about if we ever play a big game again though.

His big games were against Ohio State who were much better the last two seasons. He played well in the bowl win against Florida this year.

That said, I also think he showed a lot of guts trying to play injured, last year. Nothing was ever said about it, but he played hurt a lot.

Well happy with the Patriot draft so far.

Our 5th round pick will be the new Devin Hester IMO. :D;)

One pick left in the 6th round for us and we can pack up and go back to Foxboro happy.

And we have secured an extra 2nd round pick for next year in a trade for our 3rd round pick this year.

Chester 27-04-2008 09:23 PM

Seattle just drafted a Long Snapper, probably the most random position in all of football :D

pauldrulez 27-04-2008 10:22 PM

:D

The Patriots finished off with another OLB in the 6th round. So thats 3 OLBs, 2 CBs, a QB (3rd round) and a WR who will be used in Special teams play.

The funny thing is that I can still see a few players in Rounds 6 and 7 that I heard about a few months ago. Andre Woodson, DeJuan Tribble, Colt Brennan, Matt Flynn and Demetrious Bell as well. I didnt think I knew anything about College football :D

:sob: Vernon :sob: :(

Chester 27-04-2008 10:44 PM

Has Colt Brennan gone? If so who to

pauldrulez 27-04-2008 11:01 PM

Colt Brennan went to the Washington Redskins.

In Round 6, Pick 20. 186th pick overall.

Strathclyde Eagle 28-04-2008 12:55 AM

Woodson went to the Giants, Dixon to the Steelers. I think it will be interesting what happens in Minnesota. Although only taken in round 5 I think Booty could help the Vikings. USC always played well when he wasn't injured. I certainly think he's better than Tavaris Jackson.

Not sure how I feel about the Fins draft. 1 QB, 3 D-line, 3 O-line, 2 RB/FB hybrids... it's almost like we made a decision beforehand not to select any receivers, corners or safeties despite these being our biggest needs. Very puzzling. Perhaps a plan is in the works to sign Keyshawn Johnson or Lito Sheppard. Right now, it's hard to second guess what Ireland and Parcells are up to.

Benzhiyi 28-04-2008 12:06 PM

More Fins signings:

Dolphins WR Davone Bess (Hawaii)
Dolphins LB Kelly Poppinga (BYU)
Dolphins T Mike Byrne (Delaware)
Dolphins T Dan Gore (Boise State)
Dolphins QB Jayson Foster (Georgia Southern)
Dolphins K Dan Carpenter (Montana)

Bess and Poppinga could well make the roster. I might even do a speculative 53-man jobbie later on, just for fun.

I'm not sure how. I'd be surprised if many of those make the roster. Three LBs? No chance all three will make the cut.

Last year only 2 of our players drafted ended up on the roster by the end of the year - I fear we've had a similarly bad draft.

Oh, to have had the choices that KC made! If that isn't an A grade draft, I'm not sure what is! They've picked up 3 or 4 starters, never mind just making the roster!

pauldrulez 28-04-2008 02:16 PM

KC had a brilliant draft.

I can see Mayo starting.
Wheatley will probably be a starter at CB. But we may go with Hobbs, Merriweather or TJ Slaughter the free agent we got.
Crable may give some of the other LBs a rest considering their age and may be one for the future.
I would imagine O'Connell and Gutierrez will battle it out for 2nd QB spot considering Cassel wats to leave for a better place. Which Mayock and the others took the piss out off him when O'Connell was drafted. Is there a better team than the Patriots to be 2nd QB? He wont be a starter anywhere else.
Slater may do some kick-returning as he is a good Special Teams player and some Patriot boards seem to think that Belichick had been looking at him for some time.
Not to sure about the other two we drafted in Round 4 and 6.

I might do the 53 man squad as well later if I can be bothered.

On a lighter note, Andre Woodson who went at 198 to the Giants is being compared to another QB who went to the Patriots at 1999 in 2000. Bit of an overreaction there dont you think.

Benzhiyi 28-04-2008 02:28 PM

Wheatley as a starter? Not next season. Way too soon. Nickel back at best.
Cassel wants out? If that is true he's contracted so has naff all choice, plus he's done nothing in this league anyway. Who's going to trade for him?

Mediocre draft for the Pats. But it's not like they aren't stacked with talent anyway.

saxoneagle 28-04-2008 02:29 PM

Sure, we need LBs... but THREE rookies in the squad? More likely we'll dump at least one and try and get someone more experienced.

Very much so. Good upgrade as a backup though I'd say. Better than the Jets drafting Erik Ainge.

Eurgh. Awful player. Completely inconsistent and not even well liked at his own college, by all accounts!

pauldrulez 28-04-2008 04:08 PM

I can see two from three of the rookies being in the squad IMO.

Cassel will probably just have to see his contract out. He has never done anything to impress me really. PFW are high on Gutierrez and I would rather have a couple of rookies backing up Brady than Cassel and his arrogance.

Mayo was always high on the PFW list but was not on Mayocks draft until the Giants at highest. I can see him starting to inject a bit of pace into it.
