It is great to be talking about football again.

I'd happily have the Draft with a June Free Agency every year leading into Training Camp.

Also, for those that remember, Marcus Cannon (the Patriots rookie who underwent Cancer treatment), he is on his way into Gillette today to attempt some sort of rehab and practice.

If he gets on the field this year, it'll be a miracle.

Panthers, surprise team this year?

They were surprisingly awful last year. :D

DRC and a 2nd rounder......8 hours sleep and I'm still laughing.

SteveyHawking 29-07-2011 09:21 AM

And Vincent Young (not VY) replacing Kolb as back up on a 1 year deal. Hopefully getting cut by the Titans will buck his ideas up if and when he's needed.

SteveyHawking 29-07-2011 09:27 AM

Sproles replacing Bush at the Saints. Stewart Bradley in talks to join Kolb in the desert.

Gotta love football being back!!

Gotta get through waivers first.

Swanny32 29-07-2011 09:42 AM

Sproles at NO, makes sense but still think they need someone a little bit more elite.

SteveyHawking 29-07-2011 09:57 AM

Johnathan Joseph to the Texans fills a big need and pretty much rules them out of signing Asomugha.

David Akers on his way to the 49ers.

Swanny32 29-07-2011 10:16 AM

Still not sure why we released David. The Asomugha saga continues, we have no need for him now unless he wants to play safety but don't think we have enough cap room to sign him now.

Transition tag wasn't applicable after the new CBA and he was making noises about leaving anyway which is why we drafted Alex Henery. With Sav Rocca going to the Redskins we may well be looking at an all rookie kicking team with Chas Henry on punting duty which of course will be interesting.

Asomugha was never really going to join us and I'm happy with DRC. The Jets have to be favourites to get him now.

You have no need for the best cornerback in the sport?

Ooooooookkkkkkkk.

One of the best and we have more pressing concerns, such as at LB and safety where we are very young.

Really would be fairly pointless blowing a load of salary on Asomugha, unless we were to adopt Green Bays nickel formation as our standard defence, and so playing all 3 CBs.

However we also signed yet another DE so who knows what we are doing, at least we are sorted at QB!

DRC is good but was awful last year. He closely resembled Ellis Hobbs at times. 15 yards off coverage but getting beat deep.

Nnamdi will hopefully end up in San Francisco, Cromartie goes to Oakland, the Jets are then forced to play the average Kyle Wilson at CB and Welker and Branch have their way with him while Revis shadows Chad.

pauldrulez 29-07-2011 01:57 PM

And rumours are also going around that there is one more big bit of business to come from Bill.

I don't even want to speculate what it is. If it's an OLB, I might just declare my love for him now.

And Matt Light is close to re-signing, which gives Solder a chance to learn from Light before he makes the move to RG.

Awful? Yes. Surprisingly? No!

Jerry Richardson got a lot of stick from Panthers fans, especially the PSL owners for 'going cheap' last season.

But more even minded fans were aware that he was positioning the team for this season. Lame duck coach and his staff gone (for massive savings as opposed to firing him before last season), core free agent players like Deangelo Williams, Charles Johnson, James Anderson, Thomas Davis re-signed, Beason signed to an extension, and Steve Smith recently saying he's staying and wants to retire a Panther. We've now got Shockey and Olsen as new tight ends, suggesting we're going to use that position for something other than blocking, and a fit-again offensive line. And still plenty of room under the salary cap for improvements.

Only big questions marks now remain at CB where Richard Marshall has either gone or is going, and Chris Gamble went a bit nuts during last season, and at QB where Cam and Clausen are inexperienced and unpredictable. After paying Jake $12m to play elsewhere last season, I wonder if he'll be back with the clipboard this year to mentor the young guns?

Things are looking up!

Asomugha's off to New York. Book it.

Looking at what Cimini said, it looks likely.

He's very good, but I go by the what the Patriots did vs him test ;)

Cassel, 5 throws at Asomugha, 2 TD's, 4 completions :p

Saying that, he's better than Revis IMO.

And what's happened with the Orton trade to Miami, all gone very quiet?
