I honestly think it may have been a different game with Harrison. One, he can catch the ball. It would have also helped free up Dallas Clark. Nothing taken away from the Pats though. Great win. I hope they meet up in the AFC Championship game. Those two teams are heads and shoulders above the rest of the league.

Great game between the two best sides in the country.

Brady delivered at the important times tonight.

Cant see anyone stopping them this season. So strong in all areas.

Grim Reaper 05-11-2007 01:34 AM

Still a profitable night but I really should have quit betting at 10 and not carried on.

Looks like another loss coming up

Grim Reaper 05-11-2007 01:35 AM

Funny hearing that song by The Who in Cleveland.

That's what they play at Hull FC rugby when the team's come out.

6 overtimes

3 won by coin toss winner - 3 not

The 50% ratio lives on!!

jlmatthews 05-11-2007 01:43 AM

Couple great games tonight. Hopefully Philly Dallas will be a good one too!

Chester 05-11-2007 01:48 AM

Cincinatti, San Diego and Seattle have killed me this season.

jlmatthews 05-11-2007 01:50 AM

Bengals are just shit. Don't know how, but they're horrible.

Chester 05-11-2007 01:53 AM

They are a hideous team at the moment. Chad Johnson couldnt catch a cold if it hit him in the face.

Cromartie's return:

All in all, a good weekend in the NFL with some amazing action.

I missed the early games as I was at the Bermuda Rugby Classic but got home for the start of the Pats Colts match, of course ;)

Having seen the highlights, Cromartie's return was amazing. Just to keep the ball in was a great play with his foot almost on the line. That was 109 yards and 2 feet and 11 inches! But Peterson is an amazing runner that could easily break even more NFL records. They took him out for the last play, I think, otherwise he'd have got over 300 rush yards.

And then my Patriots. I really thought the game was gone, especially with the umpires concealing their Colts jerseys under the zebra ones. Dubious defensive PIs, even more dubious offensive PIs... you could've knocked nearly 100 yards off our penalty count by correcting the calls. Harrison or not, I reckon some decent calls would've made it a different matchup.

Still, Brady showed what everyone knows - he can lead a team down the field when it matters most. With the weapons he has this year and Maroney coming back to fitness, can they equal the Fins and go unbeaten?

Seven left:
@ Buffalo
Eagles
@ Ravens
Steelers
Jets
Fins
@ Giants

To me, the games against the Ravens and the Giants are by far the toughest although the Steelers won't exactly roll over!

Well done Pats, enjoy your week off!

Some great games it seems last night from reading this thread and checking the scores online (haven't had the chance to watch any highlights yet!). Great win for the Patriots although it wasn't the game that it was built up to be, always the same though isn't it .... Great win for the Cowboys to put them on 7 and 1 and in charge of their division :p

saxoneagle 05-11-2007 01:47 PM

Cowgirls only one ahead of the Giants, jazman... I can't say 'd shed a tear if the Cowboys blew the division down the stretch ;)

Agreed. The Colts dominated the first three quarters and so in the fourth Brady just went: "You wanna play football. Ok then." Turned it round, lights out, game over. Scary. How do you stop a team that does that when they've been completely locked down for the preceding 45?

Can't see the Pats losing one now, unless Brady gets crocked, in which case they're a completely different team. I won't be watching them again until the play-offs: like the Chelsea team which strolled to the Prem title a couple of years back, their robot-like efficiency has become tedious for the neutral. (Even Randy Moss outleaping double coverage and pulling pulls in one-handed has become routine now.) It's frightening how easy they're making it all look.

I have to disagree with your second para - whilst they are almost robotic in their play-making, it's hardly boring. That catch from Moss was amazing and they make long, great plays every week. They aren't sneaking a field goal win every week, like Chelsea with their 1 goal wins.

Any chance of the starters being rested though when they get the home-field advantage wrapped up (assuming they do...)?

Strathclyde Eagle 05-11-2007 02:26 PM

No chance of them resting starters if they're unbeaten.

I'm not sure I'd watch a Patriots game, but for a different reason to Ben. They're just so much better than anyone else (bar the Colts, which brought out their A game when needed) it isn't competitive. Of course this is part of what will make the Patriots-Jets game interesting. Pity we have to wait until week 15 for it.
