Indeed, be good to see Bill give Eric a good pasting ;)

Any chance of the starters being rested though when they get the home-field advantage wrapped up (assuming they do...)?

Hang on - I thought you were a Pats fan? I did say 'for the neutral'. I too would find it entertaining if Miami or Palace were smashing teams up for fun every week. ;)

And the point I was making about that Moss catch is that he's been so good all season, it felt like 'just another Randy moment'. Whereas if a Chris Chambers or TJH or Kevin Curtis makes that catch, it'd be replayed endlessly everywhere for the next seven days, because it'd be out of character.

But even for a neutral, as an NFL fan I just don't see how you can't enjoy watching that!

And I've seen that Moss catch 3 times already since last night so it will be played for a while yet ;)

The two of them seemed a little less frosty the last time they met but I can't see that "warm" welcome being extended to Foxboro this year :D

I didn't know ladies played US football ... ;)

So the Cowboys are the team fans love to hate still it seems ... :sob:

The next fixture is Cowboys at the Giants I believe .... :p

saxoneagle 05-11-2007 04:28 PM

Well, not really hate the Cows as such as hate TO(sser).

Not a huge fan of Romo either but he provides entertainment - both good and bad. I like watching the Cowboys but if they could lose 42-38 every week to a last minute interception return, I'd be happy :D

(My other half is Texan and therefore anything bad I say against Texas is forbidden, unless it involves the inbreds at Texas A&M or the pile of cr*p at Baylor... :D)

Cris Collinsworth has gone on the record as saying that for the Patriots-Jets game they'll need an NBA scoreboard to keep score.

Just a quick follow-up on the Olindo Mare vs Jay Feely discussion, taken from Peter King's column today:
Quote:

The New Orleans Saints, unhappy with the distance of veteran kicker John Carney last year, cut him and traded a sixth-round pick to Miami for Olindo Mare before the draft. Mare's been a disappointment, missing two more field goals Sunday against Jacksonville, making him six of 12 in field goals in the first half of the season.

The Saints gave up the 199th pick in the draft for Mare.

Tom Brady was the 199th pick of a draft once, seven years ago.
As I think I've said before, where were the people declaring Belichick and Pioli geniuses when the Patriots were 0-2 in 2001 and an injury to Drew Bledsoe forced them into starting a sixth-round pick at QB?

I'd love to see a scouting report on Brady to see why he dropped so far in the draft.

jazman 05-11-2007 04:45 PM

Be gentle with me, I've only recently started to get back interested in the game more recently after a 6 or 7 year lack of interest. Maybe that stems from the cricket season finishing and the fact that Palace are so poor at the moment ... :D

Interesting article. Hopefully the Saints season won't come down to a field goal!

Good man, stick with it. I rarely even know what the Palace score is anymore until reaching work on a Monday morning!

Grim will like this draft preview from 2000:

"The top two quarterbacks in this year's crop are Louisville's Chris Redman and Marshall's Chad Pennington."

Brady is a mere footnote, and described as 'not a gifted athlete'.

According to these rankings -

Brady had a slightly better than 50-50 chance of making a roster.

Scouting report of sorts.

I will, thanks. I was studying the results with renewed interest. May have something to do with the fact that the Cowboys are finally having some sort of recovery. But I've enjoyed the Total Access programmes that have been on and they've rarely mentioned Dallas.

Thanks to Pennington and Bryon Leftwich, Marshall aren't going to get much luck in recruiting young, gifted high school QBs. Their reputation will be shot like any QB coming from a Jeff Tedford system (Akili Smith, Joey Harrington, Kyle Boller & Aaron Rodgers).

Now he's almost assured of going to Canton.

saxoneagle 05-11-2007 06:32 PM

"However, this year there are no quarterbacks with the physical gifts of Tim Couch, Donovan McNabb, Akili Smith or Daunte Culpepper."

I liked that bit... I've followed NFL for a while and Couch and Smith barely register a blip on my knowledge banks!

From here:

It says Brady "has some Brian Griese in him..." :D

I bet Chicago wish Griese had some Tom Brady in him!

Now I live the other side of the pond, I have ESPN almost permanently on the TV. My g/f hates sports :D
