This is very minor in the grand scheme of things, but.
Cafe's and restaurants that don't spread butter/margarine over the whole slice of bread/toast or roll.
It seems that the majority, leave about a half inch of dry border from the edge.

Nth Kent Eagle 20-11-2022 12:51 PM

How many of these effin new outlet centre places does London need? We had one recently built at the Dome, one at the coalyards at the back of Kings Cross and now one at Battersea. Staggered there isn’t one in Croydon to be honest.

Yes, at the moment ,but wit for the recession to hit, a new electric taxi, after 4 years payments,is over £84000, that's a lot of lolly or £350 a week to rent, once you take those loans out you end up working 7 days a week,or 14 hour days over 6 days, it's no picnic.its kipper season in January and you will be lucky to cover your cab rent.

Radio commentators in Qatar that gush about the world cup and the opening ceremony then every 15 minutes or so say 'well we know this place has its problems' then gush for another 15 minutes. You weren't ever not going were you?

My grandmother many many moons ago used to call them 'Lyons slices' after the famous old teashops who were notoriously skimpy/stingy with their butter.

Especially before long they will be slagging him off. He is one of MOTDís go-to talking points now along with the response to head injuries during matches. They campaigned for VAR and now seem to be building towards campaigning for its removal.

Also seemed to be trying to argue that offside shouldnít count when itís close but still offside when Ďweí want to see the goal stand but count to the mm when Ďweí donít. Refís can be poor at times but nowhere as daft as the MOTD collective. Closer to the balcony guys from the muppets these days than real pundits with insight. Shame.

Barry Davies was the best. All commentators spend their time at the mic stoking their cadences for their own ears. They talk in staccato in an attempt to sound imperious, it’s all so phoney and it ruins the experience for me. I would love whimsical Davies just enjoying himself out there. Tylesley changed commentary in the late 90s for the worst.

The thing is it’s just dished up to the audience without choice, maybe we would all enjoy something abit less forced? Be great if a station that gets football for the first time, rather than change up the half time format (remember when BT or what ever it was had the football re-enactments? God awful) they made a stab at mixing up the commentary for something less sensational and less arrogant.

JJ 22-11-2022 11:47 PM

Cancer - horrendous illness.

Covid - it’s still about.

Inflation and the cost of stuff, such as fuel, food, energy.

Noisy neighbours.

Opening a tasty multipack of crisps , you pull out your fav bag and it’s slightly popped and you get a mouthful of stale crisps.

Seeds in yoghurt and drinks.

Overpacked items - multiple wraps, boxes or huge oversized boxes for items.

Rip off Black Friday items that were artificially priced high for a few days earlier in the year then put down to their normal price or slightly higher, actually ripping off the public and not giving the amazing deal they think they’re getting.

Banks not giving us enough interest on savings accounts despite inflation and everything else.

Billionaires and the richest getting richer and asset stripping companies or cost cutting, whilst normal ppl have to strike to fight to get a decent wage increase.

EVRI - not a great delivery company.

Clothing sizes - one size with one company is completely different with another.

Being given a badly made cup of tea.

Shrinkflation.

The amount of injury time in WC games - specifically people who get all smart-arsey about it.

'Peter Walton, referee expert, explain to us why there is so much stoppage time?'

'Well to most people it should be obvious, this is the actual amount time that should be added on. To those in the game its clearly the correct way to manage game time.'

Ok Peter, you dick, how come its 2022 and this is only just happening now? if its so obvious, have you and the other 'experts' just been ignoring it for the last 100 years and if so why?

School photos. A couple of awkward pics of my kid and they want £20 for a digital copy! Plus they get all sales-pressurey and start giving 'YOU MUST ORDER BY THIS DATE' kind of nonsensical deadlines.

Then I feel guilty for not paying it because I'm missing the chance to own memories of my son and hes not going to be this age ever again etc.

I was going to post the same yesterday - I normally don't cough up, but I have 3 in the same school for this year only and the group photo was not bad (the 3 of them had their eyes open and were looking at the camera, which is quite rare). I'll print them off as gifts for every relative I know (and maybe even some strangers I don't know), in order to try and make it feel better value.

The cost I begrudgingly accept through gritted teeth...it always seems extortionate, but I suppose there's a lot of work other than taking the actual photo. I do get annoyed by the rubbish options available e.g. 3 photos on a memory stick for £45, but if I want 4 photos, I have to buy the 4th photo separately for £20. Daft.

I'd just take some photos yourself and send them off to boots or whatever, to be honest. Get your kids mates in the playground and take a group picture after school ;)

It's a borderline scam along with all the other crap like "you kid has had a poem selected to be published in a poetry book that costs £30" - yeah, and so has every other kid who wrote anything resembling a poem.

One of my daughter's dance schools was 'specially selected' to appear in the parade at Disneyland Paris.... yeah it turns out that the Disney marketing people just go around every dance school in Europe telling them the same story to try and drum up business for their overpriced shite. Naturally my daughter still thinks I am a c*** for not paying for us all to go. Thanks Disney.

Both iPlayer and ITV Hub.

It's not much to ask is it, watching a live game on iplayer or itv hub?
Just useless. I'm sick of black picture with sound, frozen picture with sound, buffering, and nothing close to HD when I do get a picture... But wait, maybe it's the VPN I'm using that throttling the data? Yet I can quickly switch app to Youtube and watch a 4K quality live channel without any trouble.

Not really. You pay a licence fee that goes towards iplayer. ITVX is paid for by sitting through loads of adverts, same as YouTube, but yep you get the app free. Iplayer works well, would love a 10 second Fast forward or back.ITVX is a bug ridden monster. Works on apps but on a laptop itís horrible with loads of black screening

No idea how much it costs to stream the content. The front end iplayer app isnít the has a cost to develop funded by the fee and itís all the stuff behind that costs the £ again funded by the fee. I think itís great value.

If you have a TV Licence (which is paid for), it's an additional service at no extra cost. The same way Sky allow you to use Sky Go / Sports, for no extra cost...

Which I presume is how they see it. They're (probably begrudgingly) having to keep up with the way that consumers prefer to access their services now. At least Sky appear to have grasped the nettle, with their (rather substandard) Sky Glass offering.

It's not really the point is it? Both ITV and the BBC are big professional organizations. You'd think they could make a stable platform that works.

As for my experience with both platforms this week, trying to watch the football has been poor. Now I'm using a VPN and some of the problem may lie with that but I suspect not. Today the ITV hub was totally useless for the 1st half of the game, however the second half was stable and in a decent definition. I have no idea why I would have such a polar experience. (Someone suggested that viewers in droves had switched off in disgust (very likely) thus lowering the load on the servers). I might add that it's not only live streaming that is bad, I have had bad experiences when streaming from the catalogue too.
I have experimented with multiple streaming sites and its only iPlayer and ITV Hub that perform so badly over a VPN.

Is there some way you could get access to Fox Sports?

It's how I've been watching games on the Internet, and it's basically flawless. A couple of very minor and short freezes, but that's it.

Only downside is a) I guess you need some kind of cable or satellite subscription, and b) you have to put up with overly excitable and verbose American commentators and in-studio analysis.

Along with others who have replied, I didn't have any issues whatsoever (newest Amazon FireTV; NordVPN; over WIFI; not too far from the router).

I've been using this set-up for a couple of years, and it works for me >99% of the time!

There are many variables you need to check through as to why it's not working for you, but the iPlayer/ITV etc can work over VPN with the right setup.

Youtube also is ‘free’ but works.

Doenst mean it should be shit service. Plus there is a TV licence to pay, which you cant watch them without regardless whether you have astandard TV or not.

Which I presume is how they see it. They're (probably begrudgingly) having to keep up with the way that consumers prefer to access their services now. At least Sky appear to have grasped the nettle, with their (rather substandard) Sky Glass offering.

They get to farm your data like every other online service unlike standard tv.

Huzzah! Solidarity, bruvvah - me neither. Well done us; we're SO much better than everyone else, aren't we? (Nah. We DEFINITELY are a BIT better though.)

Where do you stand on congregating? Been invited to gatherings but have said I'm not engaging. Then it occured I could attend providing I show zero interest in the game, keep my back exclusively turned to the tv and maybe periodically hum loudly. (As much to get right on my friends' tits and ruin things for everyone else as for any moral imperative.) Or is that cheating?

Also, isn't it SO much more fun rubbishing England's chances and mocking the widespread hope when you're not emotionally invested? I haven't enjoyed a World Cup this much since '94. (Yeah, yeah, I know. Trust me.) Turns out there's almost nothing I like less than football.

I feel your pain.
With one now doing her Masters, and another a first year undergrad, we've done all the rounds.
One more to go next September.

Parking charges are just the beginning of it - if you earn anything like an average salary, the maintenance loans are pitiful, not even covering accommodation.
Thank God they both have a decent work ethic, and have reasonably paying jobs.
But we're still continually topping them up.
Good luck. Where they hoping to go?

On the plus side they may be knackered by the time they get back...

There I was thinking it was only Battersea Power Station shopping centre that allowed dogs. Today, they were all over John Lewis in Oxford Street. Please can we keep some places free of dogs. Not everyone loves the smelly, leg cocking, bottom smelling, pavement smearing, whimpering animals.

pallet 27-11-2022 12:22 AM

Some idiot today tried to take his dog into the local bakery, when they asked him to wait outside he bleated about no sign.

Prince Phillip 27-11-2022 09:06 AM

Don't know who I hate more, the people who take their dogs on the tube or the fellow passengers that simper all over them.

We live in a 50s property that due to the build suffers badly from condensation, which can only be controlled during winter by using a dehumidifier.

So to my wife explaining for the umpteenth ******* time, that me running the dehumidifier for a couple of hours to help does no ******* good when she then opens the windows when it has been pissing down and is 85+ humidity outside.

I mean Jesus Christ it's not a difficult concept to grasp. But if course it's not her having to go over the ceiling with white vinegar and repainting when necessary....

The simperers. Often the owners are starring off into the distance, the activity unwanted.

There seems to be an attitude amongst dog owners now that they can take them anywhere and let them off their fricking leads absolutely anywhere where there is open ground, even when there are sign e.g. at nature reserves that say they mustn't. ****wits

Daft.

Save money and use it for all your Christmas cards - everyone will love you :D

That Iceland chant. It was good when Icelandic fans did it but Iceland didn't qualify for the World Cup and now it appears that every single country is copying them.
