Driving about this afternoon and listening to the game on Fox satellite channel. They just use the same feed as the TV, which was leading to long periods of silence and very little description of what was happening, even the penalty shoot out was getting pretty confusing.
I assume the TV pictures were showing the joys of winning and the agony of defeat, but wasn't working for radio... left me asking, WTF is happening! |
Having all the suspicions confirmed about divisive club cliques during England’s ‘golden generation’ era.

Spin dryer .... a few horses and a dehumidifier sorts it!

Luckily we have the power of the sun for a good part of the year here. My wife tends to have a washing Monday once a month, and I get roped in to help. We have a massive Samsung machine, an old washer to remove the water, a spin dryer, and The Sun. We also use the bath tub. The whole lot takes about 6 hours.
The key question at this point is - is this more interesting than the H and M thread? |

The addition of ‘super’ to anything as a self pleasing affectation. ‘Very’ doesnt do anymore. You feel the person feels them-self ‘cute’ as they say it.

Along similar lines I bought a new circular saw blade in the week. The packaging was that really tough/brittle molded plastic that is very tough to cut with scissors and becomes a weapon of mass destruction when cut guaranteed to to give you a few cuts on your hands.
Actually makes the nice new sharp saw blade seem quite safe to handle after navigating the packaging. |

Shops changing position of items. Ok I know its so you look at things you dont normally buy to tempt you. However as I get older struggle with shopping anyway. Whether it is some mild form of agoraphobia get panicky and shakey in some shops just want to get in and out. Even to the stage I am standing pretending to look at shelf doing breathing to control it. Old age added to list.

The increasing use and adoption of the term “the holidays” in commercials and media when referring to the Christmas period. It’s the use of an Americanism that must cease forthwith and be banished from our shores.

We don't need to have the 'holidays season' expression here in Chile. Christmas and New Year are celebrated here, but not really with any extra days holiday. This year the whole shebang falls on consecutive weekends. Nice office employers might give the Friday afternoons off, but that's about it.
Our 'holidays season(s)' - as in linked to bank holidays - are 18 Sept, Easter, and maybe around Halloween (we get 31st Oct and 1st Nov). February pretty much closes down for summer but that is like August in Italy. That is summer holibubs. |
Went to book a hotel via a 'cashback' site offering 6% back. Unfortunately they quoted 12% more than just going straight to the travel site itself.
i then through a comparison site to get travel insurance and and found it £50 cheaper to go straight to the suggested cheapest site! These companies must be making some money! |

Yappy little dog shits and their owners. (you know the sort pomeranian, chihuahua, dachshund) where you visit and enter a recreational park to walk your dog, and elderly folk are chatting to each other oblivious to anything going on around them, and their "companions" go racing off after every other dog and start barking in their face.
If you dare give it to the owners verbally, and you're scum of the earth and even when they try to retrieve their bellowed "Arlo" or "Dexter" they convey no ability to recall their beloved cockwomble of a mutt. :hi: |
They must be running out of songs to do slow renditons of in these ******* Xmas adverts by now, surely?

I still can't get my head around that commercialism dictates that Christmas songs are played incessantly from the end of November, yet they are turned off like a tap pre-Boxing Day, when there are 12 days of Christmas!

I don't have the TikTok app, in fact I don't even really know what it is other than basically home made videos.
But there are often links on my Facebook homepage, and some are reported occurrences on planes. They look to me so false and performed by bad actors. In fact there is a place out here where I live that has aircraft cabins in a warehouse that the movie studios rent to film in-cabin scenes. I'm pretty sure this is where these TikTok videos are made. In fact from the little I have seen of TikTok videos, I would question the authenticity most of them. |

There is enough crap happening out there in real life on planes without people making up stories and pushing them for real... probably actually contributes to the crap we see happening. And yes, I could not watch them, and I don't anymore, but I did until I realized they were bogus, but I still see links to them. |

Im not religious, and its a custom in the UK, the only time where we stop and spend time with our family. The French take the whole of August off, we are short changed to work into ground. The whole country needs Christmas, as the only cycle we have. |
People doing their entire Christmas food shop and then using the self service tills meant for baskets only. Blocking access to other tills, too much food for the for the bagging area, so they remove whats been scanned and bag it, machine throws a wobbly as it hasn’t been paid for, supervisor has to come over and fix it, then repeat 5 more times. Meanwhile the queue for the self service tills now stretches half way across the supermarket

Re winning the world cup in 66.
We had home advantage. An Englishmen was Head of FIFA at that time. We benefitted from a few very "favourable" decisions from match officials during the tournament. Some other countries to this day (eg Argentina) will still tell you that it was a fix to ensure England won in 66 in same way as we question the officiating at some of the other world cups. Havelange became Head of FIFA in 1974 and is on record as saying the 66 finals were fixed so that England and Germany made the final. |
