These new attached coke Bottle lids and the silly bit of plastic that doesn't want to let go.
I mean how will sports venues cope with this |
Pain in the arse individuals who get a bee in their bonnet about something and can’t let it go like the individual who made 23.4k complaints about noise from Dublin airport last year. https://www.irishtimes.com/ireland/d...aints-in-2022/

My daughter.
In the process of trying to do her driving lessons and cant start until shes passed her theory, which she has failed twice with 5 questions wrong (tolerance is 3). Yesterday I sat with her to go through some examples of the test and see if I could help her, after several poor attempts, mainly accompanied with her usual "its their fault its wrong and not mine!" outbursts we got to a question about speed limits. "Well there's no signs in the picture, how am I supposed to know the answer to that!?" I suggested that the speed limits are listed in the book she has to study, the Spanish version of the Highway Code..... "What? I can be bothered reading all of that, its far too long!" Turns out that the book she was supposed to have been "studying" for the last month hasnt even been looked at. She thinks that its a waste of time and "no one else reads it!" This descended into defensive attacks from her and much stomping and flouncing. |

1, there is an app, she knows about it but can't be bothered to use it. 2, the driving school have special classes that are set up purely to study and coach people through the theory test, but she refused to do them. 3, my wife has insisted I spend two hours on Saturday and Sunday going through the questionnaire with her, but only if I don't shout. Kill me now. |

But the simple reason is that I couldn't give a flying fucj about feckin Indian sportswomen on my main sports feed. In much the same way as I couldn't gibve a toss about English or European Womens' football or the annual African player of the year tripe they show (especially as Zaha has never ever received a nomination on that). Anyone defending this latest nonsense is a virtue-signalling woke troll. It's bollox, has nothing to do with British sport, and is just ticking stupid boxes. |

Sort of reminds me of when I passed my test. I had been taking lessons with a driving school and the instructor said to me when I got back and told him I passed that he would drive back to the driving school and show me how to "drive". He drove like a lunatic back to base, which was sort of funny as the guy was such a stiff shirt (apart from always taking swigs from a flask during my lessons - for medicinal reasons you understand). |
I taught the younger 3 of mine to drive, all manual as well which is highly unusual in Aus, especially in their generation. One thing that got me, is the fact that they didn't seem to automatically know the road rules. I mean what the hell are they looking at when being driven along? I got the shock of my life with my youngest and only boy, when approaching a roundabout here in his early stages. Straight through it, he drove right in front of someone.. I had mentioned giving way to the right earlier. I just don't get how they don't know the basics, let alone have to reinforce them via book. (Highway code) It's got to be the bloody phones they permanently have in their mitts.
|
I reckon I would ace the theory - with appropriate study - I also reckon at 58 that I now have a phobia.
I am not alone. BBS luminaries wcb and El Aguila have also never driven. |

Quote:
I agree with you entirely, but I fear we don't have much control of these things. Eventually they get their way, and it is just easier to relent at the beginning and save ourselves the grief. My wife has wanted a car for more than a decade. Mostly because her siblings all have them. She can't drive, I can't drive, and none of our three mid 30s kids can either. I said I will buy a car when she passes her driving test, she reckons that I should get the car first so she can practice. And that is where we have been at for all this time. Chicken and egg. Actually that is spot on, because if I relent the vehicle will convert into a chicken coup. That's my best guess. Of course, when I get extra miffed and mention that the answer is NO because she never finishes a life project, then we have the moody bollocks for a week. |
Sadly, I can’t rep that post, but it really deserves it!

Il like the idea of a chicken coup.

All I am saying here is that you already gave us your Get Carter act on your first post on this subject and then backtracked from that position. If I were to place a small wager, I would fancy the accumulation odds of 1) you having to persevere through several more episodes of tantrums and shows of dissent (I wonder where she gets it from 'You can take it with what you want matey' might be a clue, and 2) at some stage inside the next 2 years she will be putting dents in your motor. None of that is a dig at you. It's just the way this works - it's the story of my life. Please don't see this as 'Packed Lunches' Part II - I could do without the slightly threatening PMs or negs or whatever they were.. |

Seeing as talk about spouses is ok'ish, The wife and I generally got on very well. However one thing she does is starting to make me trepidatious, concerned = Annoyed.
She's bought a digital skipping rope and boy is she using the bugger. She's up to 500 beeping skips every morning now. Why does this make me trepadatious you may ask? Well last time we went on a road trip she was wizzing up and down really rocky inclines with me crawling behind her, feeling like a bloody cumbersome buffoon. She's actually in training for the next trip. So the wifes digital skipping rope and all that it entails. I'm actually at a loss as to what to do. I could join her in this mad desire to get as fit as possible, but it just really isn't my 'bag' I can climb these things, just at my own pace, not bloody at superfast speeds. You could say let her go and do her own thing, but what's the point of traveling together if that notion takes hold? |
How the f*ck is Peston still on the tele?

People who use Hello Fresh to deliver their food.
WTF, just go to a supermarket with a shopping list and buy your food like everyone else even though it might necessitate you using your brain to write out a shopping list and getting off your arse to go out and buy the ingredients. Their adverts annoy the shit out of me too. Middle class c*nts with massive pristine kitchens supposedly enjoying their Hello Fresh meal like it was cooked in a 5 star restaurant. F*ck off. |
Quote:
Because of the multi ingredients, Hello Fresh is a much cheaper option. Also it stretches your culinary ability. I never ever toasted almonds and prepped various sauces etc before we briefly subscribed to Hello Fresh. It also totally eliminates wastage. Sounds like you've never tried it. I'm assuming that it's the same thing as we get in Aus, where each meal comes with a recipe and cooking methods. We'll probably go back to it, once our Adult daughter and partner have moved out whilst waiting for their new gaff to be built. Nothing Middle class about it here. AuContraire its aimed somewhat at retirees with limited income. |
Quote:
What do you pay for your meal in a box in these hard times? |
Quote:
Circa 100 AUD is the price for 4 meals x 2 people .... So thats about 58 GBP. Big serves as well, there is sometimes enough for 3 meals... Which you can use on the days you dont get a delivery. No point doing it more than 4 meals as you can get caught out with invites out for meals etc. In fact I think we'll go back on 3 meals next time. Here's the Aus Link if your interested. Is it the same mob? https://www.hellofresh.com.au/plans?...e4b979e04c7f2e |
Quote:
That's pretty much my point. 58 quid is a shitload of money to spend on 4 meals x 2 - especially as you're eating leftovers for 3 of them. There are a lot of people who have to make £58 last a lot longer than 4 meals but still serve up fresh, tasty, nutritious meals. Hello Fresh just annoys me - hence my post in the thread. |

Hmm didn't realise that. I think and I'm not overstating the case, that the average Aussie in the big cities at least and even more so in Perth, possibly lives closer to what the UK calls a 'Middle class' lifestyle. Wouldn't mind confirmation of that from my local Aussie peers that travel back to the UK more frequently than I. I know I live a lot different to my 1970's young adulthood in Peckham, with the paraffin heaters in the bathroom and Ice on the inside of the windows... I figured that everyone has moved along since those times though. |
I would say from about 2007 onwards the standard of living in comparison to other countries has dropped. Obviously since 2016 the pace of the decline has accelerated exponentially. I think even Slovakia has a better standard of living than the UK now.
|
Not surprised at that 100 AUD meals cost as you just need to go into Coles or Woolworths to see what it costs to make up a meal as it often twice the price of UK equivalents.
|
Indeed . Australia has gotten really exspensive over the last few years. To me the quality of the food has gone down. Some stuff like , believe it or not lamb needs a small loan to buy.
|
On the same sort of thing wonky veg company, came across them recently thinking it would be cheap veg that the supermarkets didn't want. It was super expensive.
Have family in Perth, the cost and standard of living in Perth much better than the uk |
Quote:
Standard pub meals are super expensive now. Like 42 bucks (25 GBP) for an average rump steak, salad and chips... before covid it was closer to 30 bucks. Even a Schnitty is over 30 bucks now. Beers are averaging 14 dollars a pint in Melbourne (8.00) for the general brands... 2 bucks extra for decent craft beers. |
