If Tebow isn't successful in the NFL then there's something wrong with NFL coaches, not Tebow. The guy is unbelievable. Superb running, decent enough throwing. Wait for the system QB/running QB remarks and hopefully they'll be proved wrong.

If Matt Stafford goes in the top 3 of next year's draft I'm a Chinaman.

If Knoshown Moreno was available to come out then might be a different matter. Think he's only a sophomore though, can't come out for another two years.

I think he is a class player put in the right system. For someone who is such a unit he does need to work on his arm strength but should be a decent NFL player

saxoneagle 30-04-2008 07:59 PM

Agreed on his arm strength but surely that is something you can build up, unlike certain aspects which are more natural and instinctive, like his awareness, which you can't coach.

Chester 30-04-2008 08:03 PM

Agree, that is why i think he will do well in the NFL.

I cant help but feel that Chicago not taking a QB this year was influenced by him coming in the next draft and they will do anything to take him

I think he was redshirted in his first year out of high school, so he would be eligible next season.

Chester, I don't think teams ever plan that far ahead - Chicago would have to finish with one of the worst records in the league to get Tebow, and I can't see them doing that deliberately. Also, there's every chance he stays on in Florida for his senior year.

I can see someone like Chicago (maybe not them, per se) giving up quite a lot to get someone like Tebow on the roster. In Ryan goes at three then IMO Tebow must be a top 2 pick!

I don't think Tebow will be a good pro QB. He relies as much on his running as he does his throwing.. and he is NOT a Vince Young. Unless his passing game really improves, he's not going to be a top pick IMHO.

Strathclyde Eagle 01-05-2008 10:38 AM

Spoken like an NFL scout. :D

Tebow will be similar to Vick, he's worth designing an offence around. Part of the reason the Falcons never got the most out of Vick was because they tried to make him fit systems, not the other way around. If someone can be as innovative with Tebow as Urban Meyer has been then he'll be a huge success for as long as he remains healthy.

Good interview with Ireland here:

http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/f...,5668602.story

He certainly makes all the right noises.

Agree with Strath on Tebow. I think he'll struggle a bit in the NFL because it's a time-honoured tradition that teams don't change their systems just to suit one player. It's why Michael Vick never reached his potential, why Vince Young is struggling a little after a fantastic end to his first season, and why Tebow might have a rough ride. There are too many old men still in coaching roles who aren't willing to get with the times and try spread offences and other things which work at college level. It's why guys like Sean Payton are a breath of fresh air.

Does anyone know where you can download an entire NFL 2008 schedule? Most sites (ESPN, team sites, etc.) have individual team schedules but not a complete one.

saxoneagle 01-05-2008 02:51 PM

Found one!

That is in the WAC though. And it's called WAC for a reason.

Being a WAC receiver must be hilarious. And notice how BSUs two tackles (both awesome pass blockers) got drafted very high.

Ben, our trip HAS to happen now :)

If any of you chaps are planning on doing a game anywhere along the east coast next year, let me know and I'll make up an excuse to be there :D

Tebow is an excellent College QB, last season he took more hits than he should have, he will not be able to play like that in the NFL.
One of the Gator coaches attended a meeting at our church and he said that Tebow has an ego (very strong christian) far bigger than any other player he has ever seen and it will get him into trouble, he is a big guy for a QB, but there many more big guys playing college and in the Pro's than in school system he played in. In High school he could run over people and he tried that in College and as a result he got injured.
This up coming college season will give us all a better idea about his future.

Heh, funnily enough the trip Nookie is referring to (reply to my email, Mr Bear!) is on the East Coast and should be amazing:

- Fly to New York - Weds 3rd Sept
- Redskins @ Giants (season opener!) - Thurs 4th Sept
- Phillies @ Mets - Fri 5th Sept
- Fly to Miami - Sat 6th Sept
- Jets @ Dolphins - Sun 7th Sept
- Fly home - Mon 8th Sept

Sorted cover and time off work, just need to find some way of financing it now. Come on lottery numbers...

Rooting against three New York teams in as many games will be good fun. :lux:

saxoneagle 01-05-2008 07:48 PM

Ah, bad timing for me because I'll be in NY the weekend before the season opener with my bro for the US Open... not sure I can justify a few extra days stay and not sure I'll be allowed a trip to Miami so soon after.

I'm thinking about Redskins v Cowboys in Washington in November :D

Otherwise, I'll just see you all in London in October! :D
