There are plenty of posters saying some really nasty personal stuff at other BBSers on these boards - funnily, I dont see you weighing in then.

Chilean men are mummys boys, and they have to support the team that are winning things or have a high profile Chilean and winning things.

They dont understand that you cant just change allegiances like that.

They are like Asian half and half shirt wearers.

You could take a step back and ask yourself why you’re letting the opinion of such people upset or bother you in any way?

If they’re hard wired to support their high profile Chilean in whatever team he plays for, I wouldn’t invest much time/energy in trying to change their perception. They might even entrench further to counter your efforts!

They’re probably enjoying getting a reaction from you.

PeterH 29-12-2017 09:41 PM

Nah. Hard wired is not right. They are fed it like a child is fed yoghurt with a spoon. When every sports news item is focused on Chileans playing in Europe it becomes ingrained. It is the opium for the masses syndrome.

On Sunday nights they have a football round up - they start with the Chilean first division and concentrate 80% of that on three teams, Colo Colo, Univ de Chile, and Catolica. Then they brush past the other games. Much like our MOTD. Colo Colo are always mentioned even if they havent played, just because they want to keep the sheep that follow them happy.

They then do a waste of a segment called the international round up. This involves the Chileans that play abroad. They might show a goal from whoever the league leaders are in the Uk or Spain. But they will ignore all other matches and then show highlights of some Chilean no mark playing in the Turkish second division.

When Champions League comes around they will invariably show every Real Madrid and Barcelona game live - even if they are playing some team from Iceland. They would chose this over Man Utd vs Bayern or PSG vs Juventus on the same day.

I take the piss out of them TBH. And I bully them in class if they turn up in a Man Utd or Chelsea top. Because Chileans have never played for either team, and it just means that team is winning trophies in England or Europe at that particular time.

Those half and half Chelsea/Man Utd would sell like hot cakes here.

You know, Chileans first started wearing Man City shirts when Chilean Pelligrini was manager. Even though, he has stated that he has no intention of ever managing the national side or a club side in Chile.

Let me explain it better - have you seen Ty from Arsenal TV - that is the kind of people we are talking about.

Whereas most Palace fans wouldnt wear a Palace top outside of football day and going to the game.

Personally, I might occasionally don Palace cufflinks.

Less so. The change came when he went to Chile TV loving Real Madrid. Barcelona shirts were discarded en masse. It caused a lot of confusion because I think Sanchez was playing at Barcelona.

I think many had both shirts in the closet, and they would chose which to wear based on who performed better Sanchez or Pelligrini.

I tried to tell people that you cant support both Real Madrid and Barcelona, but that went on deaf ears.

But TBF they are not supporters.

Honours list generally. An honour of any sort carries absolutely no cache any more. They are just dished out to minor celebrities willy nilly for doing their jobs. I know a few totally undeserving people with honours and I still can't work out why they gor them

Not many Malaga shirts to buy in the markets here. Luckily he seems to have disappeared off the radar.

They like to report on anything football wise that has a hint of Chile in it. Although Chile utterly failed to qualify for the WC they will consule themselves that two former Chilean team managers will be at the WC. They will get a touch of glory transference from that.

Women cant stand their men being idle for long periods.

She has popped off to spend a couple of hours with the grandkid. I use the time to piss about on the BBS. Then I get up and clean the house from top to bottom, she doesnt know that. I check my phone to see 5 missed calls. This means - why dont you leave the house and join me for a walk in 30 degree heat.

I ask her what she wants, and she puts the phone down pissed off. If you are going to do that, why call five times.

She will call me pesado, and then thank me grudgingly for cleaning the house.

She has trouble relaxing herself.

Sometimes I hark for my single days. I am already missing work.

"Carrie Gracie has said she resigned as the BBC's China editor because she could not "collude" in a policy of "unlawful pay discrimination".

She quit, citing pay inequality with male international editors earning more than her £135,000-a-year salary.

She said she had refused a £45,000 rise as it still left a "big gap" between her and her male counterparts when all she wanted was to be "made equal"."

I'd be impressed if she took a wage cut cause she's hugely overpaid and cossetted in a nothing job paid for from public purse (by me!!!)

Coutinho or more accurately his transfer dominating the Sky Transfer news reports

I didn't care about him when he was at Liverpool so why should I give a flying **** now he's at Barcelona?

People that believe everything transfer wise that's written in red top papers and use it to have a pop at our club - fools .

Someone could write that f--king half sheep half zebras are being dropped down from outer space with the intention of stuffing our homan arses with stinging nettles and people would believe them - fools.

Brighton And Hove Albion FC , obviously

The amount of Palace fans who "didn't care" if we lost last night as the Premier League is more important.

Talk about falling for the Sky sales pitch about the "greatest league in the world" (c)

No point. They are horses, more milk from cows.
BTW, it is Friesian in the dairy this morning.

I don’t think anyone genuinely ‘didn’t care’, it’s just that staying in the PL is more important than beating Brighton reserves with our reserves in a 3rd round cup game in front of a half empty stadium. You only need to see what’s happened because of that game to realise why. Schlupp and Andros our for a while by the sounds of it. Should have played a full 2nd string

1. If there is now a time when Palace don't want to compete in the FA Cup and would prefer to finish 17th, I'm out.
2. We shouldn't have played a reserve team - this is a cup competition we're capable of winning.
3. Half empty stadium? So what? I don't care if one man and his dog turn up, Palace should be trying to win.
4. The injuries are misleading - yes, they hurt the squad but that's not the fault of last night: that's the fault of FIVE summer transfer windows wasted and not strengthening the squad.

People saying we should be concentrating on staying in the PL? Well sure, but we're ******* FIVE years in now and making the same mistakes with an unbalanced squad, meaning the one chance we have of actually winning something has to be sacrificed so we can finish 17th and the CLUB can pocket hundreds of millions and build a shiny new stadium? What bullshit.
