ESPN is very close to appearing on my screens right now ... mainly down to my following of the NBA and NHL play offs ... and they have MLB on there too .. :sob:

I'm just basing this on the fact that the Skins take Williams as he fits their scheme better.

Then the Chiefs go for a need and take Russell Okung (overrated), and the Seahawks do what all teams do, and panic that the best Tackles are going, and gamble on Bulaga.

If the Skins take Okung, Chiefs take Bulaga, Hawks take Williams or Best Player Available.

I think the Seahawks take E Berry at 6.

pauldrulez 19-04-2010 04:20 PM

4th best player in the draft IMO and a solid pick. I'd like to trade Brandon Meriweather and our first round pick to get Berry.

But, would Carroll feel confident with only adding 1 key to his offense with the 2 picks? He may want to protect Hasselbeck/Whitehurst or maybe even draft Clausen if he feels inclined.

ardeo 19-04-2010 04:26 PM

Wooo fixtures tomorrow and 1st round of the draft on Thursday.

Agree with Chris re us not taking a RB. Don't think it matters how many RBs we have our OL can't run block well enough to have a strong running game. Pretty sure Reid will have faith in Kolb to pass it plenty anyway.

As far as I can remember I watched most of the draft, well whilst I wasn't drifting between naps and popping drugs (had tonsillitis), and you were at Adventure Island or something like that!

That's the one ... :D

It went through the list of contenders for the Raiders that year with explanations about how they faired in the combine. Then Heyward-Bey was described as having 'concrete hands' to which the reply was 'that's the one, go and get him, otherwise you're out of a job' :D :D

I do like listening to R and R, just finished listening to the most ercent one and their NFC East needs preview. No much love for the Eagles unsurprisingly

I'm with you Ardeo. Love the banter and their inane chatter about almost everything. Can be both serious and sincere when needed. I get the distinct impression that Jeff has had a rough time before Steve came up with the podcast idea ...

Eagles Acquire LB Sims From Lions
The Eagles announced today that they have acquired starting weakside linebacker Ernie Sims from the Detroit Lions through a rare three-team deal that also included the Denver Broncos.

The Eagles sent a fifth-round draft pick in 2010 (137th overall) to the Broncos. The Broncos gave tight end Tony Scheffler and a seventh-round pick in 2010 (220th overall) to the Lions, who sent Sims to the Eagles.

In essence, it's a fifth-round pick for a proven starting linebacker.

"Ernie Sims is an impact player at the linebacker position," said head coach Andy Reid. "He brings a lot of energy to our already energized defense. We are looking forward to adding him to our team."

"We are excited to acquire Ernie Sims," said general manager Howie Roseman. "He plays fast, he's aggressive and his style is a great fit for our defensive scheme. He is a leader who was a team captain for the Lions and we are eager to see what he can do in our defense."

This marks the fifth trade of the 2010 off-season for the Eagles and the third for a veteran defensive player (defensive end Darryl Tapp, linebacker Alex Hall). The Eagles now own 10 picks in the upcoming draft - 1st round (24th overall), 2nd round (37, 55), 3rd round (70, 87), 4th round (105, 121), 6th round (200) and 7th round (243, 244).

Sims (6-0, 230) was originally a first-round choice (ninth overall) of the Lions in 2006 and has since played in 59 games (56 starts) for Detroit, totaling 505 tackles, 2.5 sacks, six forced fumbles and one interception. The 25-year-old linebacker played in 11 games (eight starts) in 2009, and compiled 49 tackles and one forced fumble.

Now in his fifth season out of Florida State, Sims was immediately plugged into the Lions starting lineup as a rookie and earned Pro Football Weekly all-rookie honors in 2006 after starting all 16 games and leading the team with 144 tackles. He was named the team's defensive captain for the 2007 and 2008 seasons, starting all 32 games and again pacing the team with 312 tackles during that span.

A native of Tallahassee, Fla., Sims' father, Ernie Jr., played running back at Florida State from 1977-81, and his mother, Alice Bennett, was an All-America sprinter on the Seminole track team from 1980-83.

Yeah that's it.

Michael Crabtree - great receiver. Best in the class.
Al Davis: What's his 40 time?
He didn't run the 40.
Al Davis: I'll tell you why he didn't run the 40. It's because he's scared.

:D

:D Spot on ... Hilarious!

I think I am still five behind at the moment ...

I'm 3 behind I think.

Got as far as the AFCE draft needs.

Interesting!!!

Really happy about this, a 6th overall pick in 06 and snapped up for a 5th round pick this year. Eliminates us having to put so much priority on getting a LB in the draft, although I think we still will and we'll take one with our 3rd or 4th pick after a CB and Safety.

Haven't been able to find many negative comments regarding Ernie Sims so i'm happy with the trade.

Role on the schedule release in little over 29 hours!

Can any of you recommend an online betting site?

Fed up with rushing down the bookies when I a) want to have a sneaky bet on the horses and b) do my weekly football bets ... have had Paddy Power recommended to me but I'm frequent Coral bookmakers mostly so wanted to do similar ... you can't view theirs unless you sign up ...

Swanny32 19-04-2010 07:11 PM

I use Paddy Power, they do some great offers, usually have a free bet for you when you sign up and the customer service is brilliant.

Can't go wrong with them if you ask me.

Use Oddschecker to compare odds from all betting sites.

I move around the varying sites depending on what i'm betting on.

Centrebet (Australian) is pretty good at times.

Betfred, William Hill, bet365 and StanJames are my other bets :p

Thanks. I have been comparing sites and I do like the Paddy Power one. Quite easy to use especially for accumulators ... :p

Let me preface this with one thing. I do like the Trade for both Philly and Detroit.

But, here are the negatives i've seen about Sims.

1) He was drafted way too high by Matt Millen. Who thought he'd be the new Derrick Brooks in a Tampa 2 system. He was wrong.

2) Often seen as the best Lions defensive player, but has horrific weaknesses as well as good qualities.
- He often shoots the wrong gap. Meaning there is a wide open hole to go through as Sims is in the wrong place.
- He gets pushed back when he is one on one with a RB.
- Weakside LB at the very best.
- Overrated bust.

They're the two posts that stuck out to me from Detroit fans.

I think he'll look better in Philly though, alongside Bradley.

Let's face it, for a 5th round pick, it doesn't matter if he plays like me.
