In the most ridiculous moment of 2010 award.

Brian Cushing has won the re-vote for AP Defensive Rookie of the Year award.

Ridiculous.

Cushing - 18 votes
Byrd - 13 votes
Matthews - 10 votes
Orakpo - 3 votes
Laurinaitis - 1 vote.

3 voters were uncontactable.
2 voters didn't feel comfortable voting including Chris Mortensen.

Frankly, I can't believe Louis Delmas didn't get a single vote.

Swanny32 12-05-2010 08:38 PM

I heard something that he took the HGV drug back in September but has been clean since. If that's the case you can kind of understand his re election.

pauldrulez 12-05-2010 08:53 PM

He took a drug that is known to disguise steroid use. He should have been banned for a year as an example to future rookies. What are they going to say at the Rookie Symposium this year? Oh, don't worry Brandon Graham, take as many roids as you want. You'll only get a 4 game suspension next year. Oh, you might get Defensive Rookie of the Year though. That'll soften the blow.

The fact is, you have to be stupid to take roids in the NFL. You get caught, you get suspended, you get your name tarnished.

Merriman is still trying to get his rep back.

saxoneagle 13-05-2010 03:53 AM

Most rookies have bonuses written into their contracts for awards like that, too.

pauldrulez 13-05-2010 07:31 PM

I read a tweet about that.

Cushing can claim to have won it twice.

He should get a 2nd bonus.

Are we going to do fantasy again?

When do we fancy starting it?

Yeah it's running again, I'm sure Ben will set it up towards the end of June or start of July

Not here to post anything NFL related, just asking if Jaz still thinks Michael Ballack was faking injury in Saturday's FA Cup Final. :D

(Must admit, like Jaz, that I thought he was exaggerating it a bit. Boy who cried wolf, eh?)

:D :D :o .... Errr, I don't know what you mean ... ;)

But yes, maybe a bit hasty but as you say, clear case of boy who cried wolf. I want the best players to play in the World Cup but that creates a chance for a player who probably would not have been going even if he is German. It's all part and parcel of the game these days, just like diving ... ;)

He has been linked with everyone, there was even talk of him coming back to Philly!

Someone will take a punt on him sooner or later, but his confidence must be so low now after being turned away by the Browns (Woof woof). I can see the Jags taking him though as really they have nothing else.

Vince Hilaire's Afro 18-05-2010 01:56 PM

Can't see the Panthers taking him on myself. They're going 'cheap' this season, and drafted deep in that position this year (Armante Edwards is going to switch from QB to WR). In addition, Dwayne Jarrett actually caught a ball towards the end of last season in order to alert the coaches to the fact that he would like to be considered for a starting place in the team.

Swanny32 18-05-2010 02:08 PM

Jags need someone to get people through the gates, it's debatable whether TO is that person however you can't argue at the guys ability.

jazman 18-05-2010 07:39 PM

Quite impressed with Romo here ... chance to qualify for PGA tournament but chose to join team activities for the Cowboys instead. I know that is his occupation but I kind of admire the enthusiasm .... compared with Tom Brady who I beleive didn't turn up?
