I reckon they all would. Trouble is they'd be swimming towards Alcatraz wondering how far London is...

Or which part of the US London is in!

saxoneagle 22-07-2010 03:11 PM

I have two amusing stories, both related to North Americans...

Firstly, a Canadian:
Her: "where are you from?"
Me (in thick English accent): "London"
Her: "London, Ontario?"

Secondly, an American:
Her: "where are you from?"
Me: "England"
Her: "Is that part of London?"

:D

Bellyman 22-07-2010 03:40 PM

excellent

Agreed. Think FA Cup final being played in the States ....

I'll add to that with a guy I was talking to while we were playing Madden:

Him: Where are you from?
Me: london in England
Him: Your English is good, don't you guys speak French
Me: No, French is spoken in France, English is spoken in England.

Bellyman 22-07-2010 04:57 PM

hahahaha f***ing comical!

I'd have replied:

Je ne comprende pas

jazman 22-07-2010 05:08 PM

Those crazy Americans ... :p

Vince Hilaire's Afro 22-07-2010 06:46 PM

Or me in Wendy's:
Girl to her co-worker - "hey, he's from London"
Other girl - London? Where's that at?
Me - it's quite a big town in England, but obviously not as famous as Monroe.

Or me at work:
Co-worker - Do they have Valentine's day in England?
Me - yeah, of course.
Co worker - oh, ok. So how do you say 'happy Valentine's Day' in England?
Me - well, it's the same, we invented the English language.

I must add, though that these were isolated incidents, and even here in smalltown Monroe, most people are quite knowledgable about such Worldly things.

that's what confused me about my 2nd example. She must have thought the way I spoke English is so bad, it must be a second language.

Americans > The English.

Agree. 11.30pm kick-off on a Sunday night? What time does the tube stop these days anyway?

Not sure I want to touch this. I want to write off so many English people, but of my best friends I think 60-70% of them are English, even now. English guys > Scottish guys (and it isn't even close - nowhere near the same diversity of interests for the most part).

Sure we had this discussion before, but rugby players that would have made it in the NFL and vice versa

How about Jason Robinson. Slot Receiver and Punt Returner?

Ryan Grant (GB) tweeted that question a few days ago.
