Too late for me too sadly and rarely get the time to catch up in the week ... I live on the SportsCenter highlights on ESPN every morning which is fantastic.

so nothing new there then!!

Yes, quite correct. Defence were huge and kept them in the game, but silly errors cost them dear.
Smith played well all things considered. As i said to a work mate this morning, the 9ers have something and if everything clicked at the same time they would be a highly rated team. Trouble is I've been saying this for a while now and I'm yet to see the "everything" clicking...

They will learn under Singletary but I thought they would start the season well ... early days I know, but costly errors as my Cowboys have found out ...

Actually I am beginning to doubt Singletary. He was the right man to pull them up from the gutter 2 seasons ago, but now they have the makings of a good team I wonder if his management style will get the results...

Interesting view ... I'm looking forward to seeing them at Wembley next month ... hoping they turn on the style against the Broncos ...

Tme will tell. He's not going anywhere so he will have his chance to prove his methods.

Not sure how their season pans out in terms of fixtures. I don't mind them but don't tell my old man that ... ;)

Just watching the 49ers game now, pointing out the obvious here but had they not screwed up with the botched snap in the 2nd play of the game then it could have been a completely different story last night. Good game though, just coming up to the end of the 3rd quarter and finding it very competitive which isn't something that can be said when the Saints are involved.

And that is why I love the NFL, the superbowl champs taken to the wire by the 49ers, what a game and what a game tying drive from Alex Smith, showing why he was a number 1 pick for the niners. Felt quite sorry for SF at the end.

Guess I was right about Kolb.

Michael Vick named the starter in Philadelphia.

In other news, Bruce Gradkowski is no longer a free agent in our Fantasy League. Kevin Kolb is.

zonin2000 21-09-2010 11:12 PM

Wow. Surprised. Not sure what to make of this. The offence has been designed around Kolb and now that is being torn up. Part of this is because of how much Vick has impressed, part because Kolb has disappointed (in a very, very limited number of snaps). But how much of the former and how much of the latter?

zonin2000 21-09-2010 11:14 PM

One theory, the O-line is in such bad shape, that it makes sense to put Vick in for one year and bring Kolb back next year, rather than let him get killed this year. I don't buy it though.

zonin2000 21-09-2010 11:19 PM

Oh, and this is officially a 'QB controversy' now!

Swanny32 21-09-2010 11:19 PM

I'm absolutely gobsmacked!

I was sucked up in my own little world playing Fifa 11, happily thinking that Kolb was going to come in and destroy the Jags on Sunday and all of a sudden you come out with that, it's all over Twitter and breaking news on NFL.com.

Just watching Eagles Live on the website, reading between the lines, if Vick continues to play like he has been then this is his team for the foreseeable future. I'm genuinely shocked.

SteveyHawking 21-09-2010 11:41 PM

Vick has earned the starting position the way he played the 2nd half against the Packers and after his performance against the Lions. Still pretty surprising considering Reid stated only yesterday that Kolb was the starter. The press conference is soon so that'll be interesting viewing. At the moment Kolb is a bloody expensive backup QB!
