Really? Thanks for the tip ... was contemplating making an effort this year.

Green Man Tailgate Party is the way :p

Swanny32 22-09-2010 02:22 PM

I'd like to go to both but the greenman one looks a bit naff. Besides, real cheerleaders at the official one.

pauldrulez 22-09-2010 02:27 PM

Good point.

Time for a quick boast :p

Last year, I met the Bucs cheerleaders and the 4 Pats ones who came over as well at Richmond Park on the Saturday at a Flag Football game between the 2 fan clubs.

They look better and better the closer you get.

Especially the 2 Pats ones who turned up with the most junk food i've ever seen a girl that size eat :D

Swanny32 22-09-2010 02:32 PM

In the States they aren't actually classed as proper cheerleaders, apparently. They are also all ex strippers trying to do good, apparently.

Frankly I couldn't give a toss! Mmmmmm

Are you doing that again this year? And can I come? :D

Sorry Latvian, just caught your post.

As you probably know, I've seen it first hand, and it wasn't pretty.

Things are not happy in Carolina right now. The owner Jerry Richardson is a big player in the NFL behind the scenes negotiations, and I'm pretty sure has quite a lot of insight (and influence) on the upcoming labor concerns etc.

They've raised ticket prices a bit, but been steadily letting their big earners go, kept a lame duck coach, and it's increasingly looking like they're running the team down, ready to build for next year (or the year after). I've forgotten his name, but there's a really popular coach (both college and NFL with the Steelers I believe) who lives in Carolina but has been out of the game looking after his sick wife. Rumours are, they're biding their time with Fox before getting him in. But what's annoying the Panthers fans is still having to pay through the nose to see their team, and the feeling that they're putting out the very least quality team they can and still 'get away with it' with the fans, if you see what I mean. Like some other places in the NFL, we were threatened with a blackout if the game didn't sell out, so things don't look good really.

Moore has been terrible in training, pre-season, and regular season, and has been replaced by Jimmy Clausen. I think the moment they drafted Clausen, Moore has felt like the writing is on the wall. Perhaps he's just a confidence player, and can't deal with pressure so well. A lot of expectation on the rookie's shoulders. However, he seems like a somewhat cocky bastard, so this might not faze him too much.

Still on the subject of shipping out higher earners, despite 2 rookie WR and another guy being either on injured reserve or inactive, Dwayne Jarrett couldn't even get the 2nd receiver spot behind Steve Smith on Sunday. Instead the job went to this year's 6th round pick Gettis. Even then they threw more passes to TE Dante Rosario than him. So perhaps that's another earner they're trying to get off the books.

Add to that, the running game isn't functioning yet, and it all looks bleak. (Although Stewart and Williams usually take a while to get going). It was odd to see Moore throw 3 endzone picks against the Giants though in game 1. The Panthers seem obsessed with trying to force their disastrous passing game when running has always been their strength.

It's all a bit weird at the moment, and to be honest, difficult to see where the first win is coming from.

However, in the finest spirit of a Crystal Palace fan, I will of course be backing the Panthers to rally and win the Superbowl.

Being a Palace fan definitely helps you through some difficult situations in life.

No :(

It was a UKPatriots organised thing.

Had the Boston media there for the morning watching the game. Then I headed to Palace. Then up to the Sports Cafe for a party with them, Robert Kraft and Troy Brown.

If the Eagles ever come over, you have to get in with their fan club and get them to organise something.

Thinking of which, anyone up for a BBS flag or touch football game at Wembley before the game.

Along with the copious amounts of alcohol, it'd be a laugh to do.

Now here's a guy to root for:

Quote:

Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean had a report on Tuesday that Titans quarterback Vince Young was excused for part of a team meeting last week. That report raised some eyebrows among Titans fans who were wondering why Young would want to miss a meeting prior to a big game -- a game that would feature Young getting benched and the Titans losing.

The answer is that Young was spending time with Steve McNair's sons.

Young has mentored McNair's sons since their father died, and in a follow-up item today Wyatt writes that Young took Tyler and Trent McNair to a "Dear Dads Breakfast," an event head coach Jeff Fisher gave him permission to attend several weeks ago.

"He showed up, took them, brought them to school and was quite the hit,'' said Julie Dilworth, admissions director at St. Paul Christian Academy. "He has been so good to those boys. He does a lot with them, great things. I love that it wasn't just words for him when he said he would help. He has stepped up and done it, and it is a blessing.''
Good for VY.

Benzhiyi 22-09-2010 07:45 PM

Paul, did you look at the link I posted for trains in Boston?

Swanny32 22-09-2010 08:07 PM

I don't think the Eagles have a UK fan club, I really can't see us coming over though, well, not as the home team anyway.

jazman 22-09-2010 08:10 PM

I have heard through the grapevine that the Cardinals are the home team coming to Wembley next season ....

Swanny32 22-09-2010 09:40 PM

I'm sure there will be plenty more rumours floating around over the next 6 months.

Swanny32 22-09-2010 09:41 PM

I was also under the impression that it would be 2 games next year.

jazman 23-09-2010 08:43 AM

This seems to be the known thing in Arizona where I have contacts ... and the natives over there are restless after the weekends result.

Swanny32 23-09-2010 09:24 AM

NFL Gamepass is free for this weekend only, head over to NFL.com to sign up!

saxoneagle 23-09-2010 09:57 AM

Isn't that only if you buy a season pass?

As long as one of the teams is Oakland, I'm happy.
