Seriously dude, what is your problem? Do you really take the fact that other people don't like the Yankees that personally?

Oh, and I'll be supporting the Redskins on the night. But seeing (and booing!) Vick will nonetheless be exciting.

You're right that I shouldn't really bait any of the fans that support the same team I do. However I feel to an extent that I should respond to certain things that are said. An example is this, "Yankees = ManUre = W*nkers." Now it's not very nice, to be compared to Manure in any way and the obscenities are only directed towards me, so unfortunately for some I'm giving some back and then some.

Now I've read enough that could keep me arguing for pages and pages with a few here but I don't find it important enough to do that, by a long shot.

I did pick up a few points here though. It seems I can wind up Saxo as much as I like and he'll still forgive me (I think he indicated just once though) and I have done wrong things in life but I believe that torture isn't one of them (though I don't know how I've left Swansong ;))

Well, I hope the game goes well and MV breaks his leg.

Go Cowboys :lux:

Surely it comes with the territory though. Like it or not the New York Yankees ARE the Manchester United of baseball: universally hated outside of their own back yard for their arrogance, for poaching the best players from other teams, and for (yes, I'll say it) their success. (Although I should remind you that only one team has won the World Series twice since the turn of the century, and they ain't from New York.) ;)

That's not a personal thing against you, that's how people in the UK and around the world - disregarding the planks who see that foul Yankees logo as a fashion statement - view your team.

Of course, if you come on here and then openly demonstrate that same arrogance which people already hate about the Yankees, people are going to take pops at you. But there's nothing saying you have to do that - I'm sure there must be some humble New York supporters out there too. Somewhere. Maybe. And if not, you could be a pioneer.

I think you have got confused and put murderer when you meant to put he was cleared of murder and is one of the greatest NFL players of all time.

Strathclyde Eagle 11-11-2010 10:38 AM

Even if Ray Lewis did do that I don't think I'd accuse him of doing that. Well, not to his face anyway.

And he's back in Atlanta tonight of course.

I'll go with the last line. Well, Top 30 anyway.

Strathclyde Eagle 11-11-2010 10:57 AM

Don't get Deion started on that. Apparently he was very unhappy at only being number 34 on the list (which out of the entire history of the league is pretty good, I'd have thought).

jazman 11-11-2010 12:06 PM

OK, enough with the Cowboy bashing. A guy can get a complex on here you know .. ;)

Dude needs to chill out. Saw him ranting about it.

I thought he was kidding at first.

Mike Carlson's list on Channel 4 last week was interesting. Had a few different names in there.

Swanny32 11-11-2010 04:50 PM

I found primetimes rant hilarious.

sLlll 11-11-2010 08:30 PM

EEIE, I heard it was very painful ;)

"Surely it comes with the territory though." Funny that, more from English fans I would say. Many Americans respect the Yankees (I go there virtually every year.) If their child was to play for the Yankees they would see it as an honour. Where in England, as an NFL guy recently said (I think the chap on Channel 4,) about us being tribal to our teams regarding following a London NFL team and going against our own established NFL team, it seems to bring out unnecessary hatred. Their fans don't even need to be segregated.

I first commented after watching us win the World Series. I was just commenting on how happy I was. Others said it wasn't the right protocol as my first post about baseball on here. I think they've eventually become surprised as to how I've kept up with Yankees baseball for so many years. Nothing too dissimilar to Palace and the Cowboys. I don't get offended by the comments aimed at me, but I will search for how others will react to when I give some back and then some. I've had many of these guys wound up but I don't intend on burying anyone.

As for your two wins. They were sure paid for. But that's the American way. That's why they constantly have right wing Republicans running the country in some way or another.

Well I'm at the Palace match on Saturday, everything else seems to fall into place after that. Will you be there this time?

So you weren't there on Tuesday. It got very sombre when we went 2-1, so much so that I had to move from my prime position to stand in block B and sing as loud and as long as I could do. That probably made up for your lack of presence.

pauldrulez 11-11-2010 09:35 PM

Christ this thread is getting stupider than I act on here.

sLlll 11-11-2010 10:17 PM

OK, NE Pats v London Palace (association with Buckingham just for the Yanks) @ Wembley Stadium every year? Are you really ready for an English NFL team?

What?

If the Pats came to London each year, i'd be happy. But, I think it'd grow old incredibly quick as well.

I don't want a full-time NFL team in London. Give me 2 games a year in London with different teams, and i'm happy enough.

Especially with me now having worked full-time for a year, i've got enough aside to get to Boston and NY to see the Pats play and the Jets lose.
