JJ Watt looks much bigger on TV. I mean look how much smaller he is than some random Asian guy. ;)

The new Falcons Stadium has just become a politician's shitshow:
Quote:

Also on Wednesday, City Councilman Ivory Lee Young Jr. presented a thick stack of documents detailing what residents of nearby communities want from a new stadium.
Among the requests: better parking enforcement, job training and jobs inside the stadium, millions of dollars for a housing trust fund that could help rehabilitate homes, repairs for the crumbling Herndon Stadium at Morris Brown College and a pedestrian promenade from the Vine City Walmart to Centennial Olympic Park.
I wonder if they want to go back to how the area was before the Georgia Dome; drugs, violence and burned out cars.

Just like that, Titus Young might be back out on the street.

The wide receiver needy St. Louis Rams took a chance on Young when they claimed him on waivers after the Detroit Lions dumped him earlier this month. Rob Parker of The Sideline View, and a longtime journalist based in Detroit, reports that the Rams have cut Young.

Parker also reports Young might not play football again. The Rams have not commented, according to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. At some point, this story will trickle out. No one would be surprised if Young sabotaged what was a fine opportunity with the Rams.
I'm sure he'll land on his feet, after all he is better than Calvin Johnson.

Ex-Falcon DE Ray Edwards is off to a very credible start with his boxing career...

Thought I would put this in the boxing thread but thought better of it... :clown:

That guy needs a yellow card more than a ten count.

Anyone been to a Preseason game? I'm planning a West Coast & Vegas trip next Summer and was contemplating catching a game. Not a fan of palace pre season so just wondered how NFL compared, both the game and the crowd atmosphere

Never been to a pre-season game for NFL but they are renowned as being awful. Game 3 is generally the best and you see many starters, but otherwise they are not meant to be great.

They're good for what they are - basically a chance to see the team take shape, get injured players fit, players on the cusp of being cut play for their futures and get a first look at rookies.

The biggest problem is that they're incorporated into the price of a season ticket, and expensive on the day, which doesn't make sense.

The Panthers usually have a couple of open days at BOA Stadium, and numerous training sessions where you can see the team going through the per season routines. Free and fun.

Another thing with the pre season games is that they only run vanilla schemes so you don't tend to see anything particularly outstanding.

Cheers! I was planning a visit in July but may be able to push it back to August and take the opportunity to grab a game. Never seen a State side NFL game so may as well take the chance even if not 'real' It's my 40th in June and my mate's in August so was planning a joint 40th get together in Vegas in July, but if I could push it to August and add in a SF, SD or LA for a couple of days might be able to coincide dates with a game.

oz_da II 19-02-2013 09:24 AM

Might struggle to watch a live game in LA... ;)

Beckenham Boy 19-02-2013 09:40 AM

LOL good point...

Another question would be when do you think they would release the dates of these pre-season fixtures. This would be for the start of the 2014 season, not this year. just wondering roughly when they would be announced

jazman 19-02-2013 12:38 PM

Time to get the combine juices flowing ...

I think it's April (though may be march) that year. Can usually predict it though, season always starts the same weekend (the weekend after Labour day I believe) problem is working out when they will be home and away.

Fonzie Dennard found guilty. Max of 6 years.

Aqib Talib - No doubt he gets Franchised.

Utah defensive tackle Star Lotulelei, a projected Top 5 pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, will not be allowed to work out with the rest of the defensive lineman at the 2013 scouting combine after an echocardiogram revealed a heart condition that requires further medical testing, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported on Sunday.

According to Mortensen, the echocardiogram showed that Lotulelei has a low Ejection Fraction and the left ventricle of his heart was pumping at an efficiency rate of 44 percent, well below the normal rate of 55-70 percent. Lotulelei will undergo further medical testing in Salt Lake City.
I'm pretty sure they have pills for Low Ejection Fraction.

Massive respect for Brady for the deal he has signed to help the team.

Always strikes me as strange why very rich men go for even more when they know it will hamper the team for the next few years.

I know he's sorta despised among some players around the league because it hurts their negotiating position.

pauldrulez 25-02-2013 10:16 PM

Opens up a lot of money for the next 2 years, and other than Spikes, there aren't many free agents coming up after this season?

It amazes me how BB and TB have kept such a consistent record in the salary cap era
