It amazes me how BB and TB have kept such a consistent record in the salary cap era

Because Tom Brady isn't asking for $20+ Million a year like some other QBs the last couple of years, including one who's team was already over the salary cap.

pauldrulez 25-02-2013 11:03 PM

Yep. Team game, Flacco will learn that when they can't re-sign Smith and Pitta at full value in a few years

pauldrulez 25-02-2013 11:05 PM

And if they've done this to give WW a stupid contract, I'll be angry.

Overrated and had a poor year.

Extend Spikes, McCourty, Wendell

Doesn't Tom's mrs make more than him?

In agreeing to a three-year, $27 million contact extension that runs through the end of the 2017 season, when he'll be 40, Brady likely riled agents and players throughout the league, especially those of the elite-quarterback variety. From Joe Flacco, who's currently negotiating a long-term deal with the Baltimore Ravens in the wake of a Super Bowl championship, to Aaron Rodgers, whose deal with the Green Bay Packers is well below market value, highly compensated passers can look forward to being guilt-tripped by employers, media members and fans imploring them to "Take Less For The Team."

When that happens, Brady shouldn't expect to receive any thank-you cards.

It is interesting, certainly puts into perspective what Sanchise is getting.

Rodgers is only about 8 million at the moment so he is surely due a big bump, but probably not as big.

I think it will rile all players, not just QBs, at what point is any GM going to be happy to be paying someone more than Brady is being paid?

Been off this week recovering from surgery so have had fun watching the combine. number 4 pick I can see being Chance Warmack or Eric Fisher as Chip looks to be staying with Vick.
I have learnt how to create GIF files. Anyone want one for their avatar?
The only thing I regret doing on my time off was venturing outside of the NFL and gaming threads on here.

So the Chiefs are trading for Alex Smith and using their Number 1 pick to fix problems elsewhere. Sounds good strategy to me. None of the QBs in this years draft sound that amazing to me.

My bet is the Eagles take Dee Milliner.

The Jags are more likely to take him.

  1. Kansas City Chiefs - Luke Joeckel
  2. Jacksonville Jaguars - Bjoern Werner
  3. Oakland Raiders - Dion Jordan
  4. Philadelphia Eagles - Dee Milliner
Then it's up for grabs at #5.

Looking forward to the Panthers picking a beastie DT, and watching him wreak havoc with Greg Hardy and Charles Johnson at either end :)

Latvian Eagle 28-02-2013 06:14 PM

They reckon Buffalo might trade up from 8 to get a QB.

Everything I've seen about us VHA has us taking either a WR or a CB.

Both are needs, but the whispers I've heard are for a dominant DT. That said, every year they suggest a replacement for the ever older SS, and Gamble is likely to be cut for cap reasons. I think they'll only take a WR if a standout is still on the board at 14. We already have a number of 'decent' receivers, so it would only be worthwhile drafting a stud.

Latvian Eagle 28-02-2013 06:29 PM

Are we cutting DeAngelo Williams?

Stewart is definitely staying, he just signed a new contract. They want to retain Deangelo, but I think it will depend on what Gettleman can do to de-Hurnify the salary cap situation. With two decent backs and Cam also available, it might be the best option to trade him and get a good value back later in the draft, much as they'd like to keep him.

However, it's rumoured that Kalil, Gross and Beason might be restructuring their deals to free up more space, so who knows!

That sounds dumb. I can't see a QB taken before #8. I would laugh if Buffalo picked Barkley at #8 and another USC QB busts in Buffalo.
