The Raiders are nuts if they take Geno Smith at 3rd pick. What the Chiefs have done in trading for Alex Smith is astute.
Raiders should use this pick more wisely (I know this is the Raiders but still). They pretty much need improvement everywhere; for me, get one of the high ranked OT's to boost their OL, giving Palmer/Pryor/someone else some kind of protection. Likelyhood is, this is not a one year fix, so they will likely have a very high pick again next year. Providing the QB class is better (Not sure about this to be honest but guessing there must be better out there coming through), draft one next year. Wasting a first round pick this high on Geno Smith is incredibly risky. And from a 49ers point of view, looking forward to seeing what we do with so money picks at hand. I do like Tyrann Mathieu; think he is a project but has great value and lots of upside. Plus, he is very handy on punt returns... |

Nice move by the Chiefs. What ever happened to the QB from the Brady school of QBs Matt Cassell? Without a trace ...
It does depend which Alex Smith turns up though. If its the one that got the Niners through the first half of last season (was it that many?) then they can build a team around him perhaps ... |
I don't know about anyone else but in the draft I'm always disappointed with a d-line or o-line pick whether they are sensible or not. It's the glory picks that everyone looks out for - QB, WR, RB ....

I'm guessing this will be the lowest draft in terms of QB's/WR's/RB's selected in the first round. |

Dunta Robinson, John Abraham and Michael Turner have all been released by the Falcons. So you Panthers fans can get excited about Turner coming to your team.

They should have dropped Nakamura's cap figure to $0 and told him to **** off!

I thank my lucky stars for Friday Night Lights. On season four and still hasn't got boring. Absolutely compelling. I won't spoil it for anyone not up to speed.

Flacco done, now the important part of trying to keep Ellerbe

What they have done story line wise for this fourth season really kept the interest going. I do wonder where they would go but they have played a blinder.
Clear heads, full hearts, can't lose! |
Will Flacco join the ranks of legends who cement their HOF status following a big pay day, leading their team through a golden era almost single handedly.....or join the ranks of those who made the most of securing a bloated contract at precisely the right time, getting overpaid and crippling their team's prospects in the process?
Personally I think he didn't get the recognition he deserved for some time, but the pendulum seems to have swung too far the other way now. I can't see him commanding the kind of respect that say a Manning or a Brady does, and attracting big names perhaps willing to take a bit of a paycut in the hope of getting a ring opposed to getting a big payout at no hopers like the Jets. |
