UPDATE: ESPN Senior NFL Analyst Chris Mortensen has an update on the Niners' apparently waning interest in acquiring Revis.

"Not so fast on 49ers' and #Jets CB Darrelle Revis. High-ranking team source says 49ers' interest is '.001 on a scale of 1-10'," he tweeted.

Time will tell whether this 49ers comment is sincere or a smokescreen to help keep Revis' trade value down.

It appears that even though Darrelle Revis is working his way back from a serious knee injury, it's only going to be a matter of time before the New York Jets ship him away in a trade, according to the Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News.

“He’s gone,” a source familiar with the situation said Tuesday. “This is happening. They’re moving him. They can’t keep him. They’re rebuilding. They’re starting fresh.”

ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter agrees, noting on SportsCenter that "The one thing that does appear certain this morning is that Jets are shopping Darrelle Revis and they are determined to deal him at some point before the NFL draft."
It's too bad that Mark Sanchez's salary cap number would be $17M if he was cut this season. :p

Sensabaugh cut by the Cowboys while Anthony Spencer is franchised for second consecutive year. Sensabaugh a victim of the formation change I suspect following the recruitment of new coaching personel.

Meanwhile, Filly sign their fourth QB.

Every time I've ever seen Sensabaugh he's either had someone running past him or someone has been breaking his tackle. Think you're better off being shot of him & Newman.

I'd have to agree however I think he has the most picks in the last couples of seasons of any Cowboy. Says a lot really.

Might just mean that teams think they can throw on him. Saw Claiborne a lot in LSU games, he'll be very good eventually I would think.

Speaking of LSU, I'll be interested to see where Matthieu goes in the draft. Potential game-changer who unfortunately could be potentially disastrous due to discipline issues. Still think someone will reach for him.

Third Round @ 2.4
Second Round @ 2.8
Fourth Round @ 3.2
Fifth Round @ 7
Sixth Round @ 11
First Round @ 21
Seventh Round @ 21
Not Drafted @ 26

If he kept his nose clean between now and the draft, I'd unfortunately go with the favorite, 3rd round.

I'd like Mathieu...

Talib - Dennard - Mathieu

The All-Issues Secondary (if we re-sign Talib)

Or perhaps your whole offensive line will be made up of a QB's. It could be the new special teams weapon ;)

On Thursday, the Atlanta Falcons and the city of Atlanta agreed to basic terms on a deal that will finance the construction of a $1 billion stadium for the team. it's estimated that the new building, which will replace the Georgia Dome as the Falcons' home, will be ready for business in time for the 2017 season.

The Falcons and the city had been going over terms for years, but team owner Arthur Blank and Atlanta mayor Kasim Reed were finally able to announce the broad strokes.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution detailed a few more parameters about the agreement.

Under terms to be announced this afternoon by Reed and Falcons owner Arthur Blank, the Falcons would assume responsibility for $50 million in infrastructure costs related to the stadium.

Also, the Arthur Blank Family Foundation would invest $15 million in projects aimed at boosting English Avenue, Vine City, Castleberry Hill and other neighborhoods close to the stadium.

In addition, Invest Atlanta, the city’s economic development agency, would commit another $15 million in tax allocation district dollars for economic development projects in the area.

According to the agreement so far, public financing of the stadium will cop at $200 million, which will come from hotel taxes in Atlanta and Fulton County. All other costs will be shouldered by the Falcons and "other sources."

What happens to the Georgia Dome then? College kickoff games, SEC championship, Chick Fil-A Bowl and that's it, or do they pull it down? Always thought it was a great location, right in the middle of the MARTA lines (but then I don't mind taking public transport).

Also in kinda-stadium news, O Carolina.

Everything I've heard is was supposed to be going a couple of blocks to the north which would put it half a mile from the East/West and North/South lines. But now they're saying it will go directly south which doesn't look like it will be a big enough area to be able to construct right next to the Georgia Dome. Plus they'd need to move a church.

This thing will get us right to the front of the line for Super Bowls, NCAA football title games, NCAA Final Fours, Wrestlemanias and Arthur Blank continues to mention an MLS team and World Cup venue every time he talks about it.

Strathclyde Eagle 08-03-2013 03:01 AM

I thought Atlanta was meant to be out on Super Bowls after the snow around the time of Super Bowl XXXIV? Which I don't agree with given that the Super Bowl has been to Detroit since and will be in New York next year, but still...

Talk about a red herring, all the bitching was coming from the media. (imagine that) Dallas a couple of years ago was much worse, but the Jerry Dome isn't losing the Super Bowl. Arthur Blank is extremely unpopular with a good portion of the owners, so they've been freezing him out of Super Bowls. But with the new stadium, they won't be able to do that anymore. Especially when it will get NCAA title games. I really hope the Super Bowl next year is under 10 feet of snow.

Perhaps, but think of the bad publicity when a 'blown out of the playoffs early again' Matty Ice walks interrupts the Superbowl kick off screaming "get the **** off my field" at players of both teams....
