Fairly confident this argument could only come from a Pats fan... ;)

Why should he be protected from a turnover?

No one will be thinking, "I'm not going to throw the ball very often because if I change my mind when throwing the ball I'm vulnerable to a turnover..."

Stupid rule from the start.

Haha yeah it's true I do love the rule for nostalgia.

Probably true but I think that the great players play the rules, maybe you dont start the throwing motion until a fraction of a second later because you have to be sure you're going to make it. The best QBs have a very quick, tight wind up (from 2 hands to throwing position), maybe they'll start working on how they get the ball back in two hands as efficiently as possible. Might see less fakes, or less extravagant ones at least.

Yes, I know we've been Dallas Cowboys-heavy here the past couple of days, but they're the team that's actually making news all of a sudden, so that's the way the cookie bounces or whatever. The latest is Adam Schefter reporting via Twitter that the Cowboys have reached agreement on a contract with veteran safety Will Allen, who will sign once they clear some cap room. Adam reported Tuesday that they'd reached the same arrangement with linebacker Justin Durant.

Now, Clarence Hill points out that such informal deals are (understandably) illegal according to the CBA and the Cowboys are at risk of a fine if they've been found to have violated the rules. And that's why the Cowboys aren't acknowledging the deals yet. But while I wrote yesterday that these psuedo-agreements could be a sign that contract extensions for Tony Romo and/or Anthony Spencer are nigh, Calvin Watkins writes that the team is looking to cut or restructure the contract of another player on their roster and that they can add the players in question without the new deals for Romo and/or Spencer.
As it stands now, the Cowboys will be barred from even making any draft picks. They better get that Romo contract sorted.

Romo will be paying the Cowboys at this rate ..

In other news, Sky Sports announce that they are planning a weekly NFL show which I believe begins this evening ...

This figures to be a monumental week for gay rights in the United States, as the Supreme Court will review the issue of same-sex marriage for the first time.

And while the matter plays out on the nation's largest legal stage over the next few weeks, it may also make headlines on the nation's largest sporting stage, the NFL.

Mike Freeman of CBS Sports wrote Monday that sources have told him that a gay NFL player is considering coming out over the next few months:

"Based on interviews over the past several weeks with current and former players, I'm told that a current gay NFL player is strongly considering coming out publicly within the next few months -- and after doing so, the player would attempt to continue his career."
I guess people can play the "Who will it be?" guessing game.

They could've at least narrowed it down to a position!

I'm thinking they'll be more likely to be a Wide Receiver now than have a tight end.

The Dallas Cowboys and veteran quarterback Tony Romo have reached agreement on a "blockbuster" six-year extension that will make Romo the highest-paid player in Cowboys' history, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Romo's new deal with the Cowboys is worth $108 million and includes $55 million in guaranteed money.

Romo, who turns 33 in April, is scheduled to earn $11.5 million base salary in 2013, which is the final season of his current contract. Romo is technically signed through the 2016 season, but the final three seasons of that contract will void after this season.

In terms of guaranteed money, Romo's $55 million ranks behind fourth behind New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees ($60.5 million), Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning ($60 million) and New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady ($57 million), but ahead of the $52 million that Joe Flacco received from the Baltimore Ravens.
Jesus, this means that Matt Ryan must be worth $50M a year.

Look around. Who could have brought in to replace him? Nobody really any better that is available and worth trading for. Not high enough in the draft to select a rookie capable enough of taking the QB spot. I was suprised at the deal, is even question the deal. Could be silly but could have a lot to do with the time invested in Romo. Only time will tell, but there are a lot of Cowboys fans that last season was the last straw for Romo. Those that have any sense will see that our cap position will not give us much leverage in bringing in a new QB. I'm not sure about it, I've always had a soft spot for Romo but even I was losing my patience. However, he is crying out for support so perhaps that is what they will have to get him along with this new contract.

Georgia Tech for me. Looks like the next few years will be painful based on the woeful recruiting lately.
