I'd like to see how the Saints play without Colston, Graham and their 2nd TE out too.

I'd like to see the Falcons without Jones, Gonzalez and their 2nd TE.

Patriots will only improve once Gronkowski, Amendola, Sudfield and Vereen return.

I'd rather be shit now and 2-0 than start off brilliant and get figured out like every other year. The team will be better for Thompkins, Boyce and Dobson getting snaps and learning from mistakes

To be fair to the Patriots, I think the Jets have defended pretty well in both their games so far. It's the only reason they've still in games going into the last quarter.

Three rookie targets to use/develop with Edelman, Gronk & Amendola. They'll be okay.

Jets D-Line is strong, and despite what Mayock was saying about drops, there were only 4 from the Patriots.

A few option routes weren't run correctly, but they have to learn, and i'm sure they will, otherwise they wouldn't be on the field.

Yeah, they'll be fine Dobson & Thompkins will only improve.

Worth saying though, the Jets probably would have won with Sanchez! :D

I absolutely adored the whole story. It was fantastic. What did you think? It does leave quite a hole in your life after watching all five series weekly for so long ... Luckily NFL is back ...

jazman 13-09-2013 12:31 PM

And what's happened to Ryan? Did someone stick a pin in his stomach or something?

LLCOOLSTEVE 13-09-2013 12:34 PM

It was quite an obvious ending, although they tied up a few loose ends. Was a bit shocked at matt asking Julie to marry him though! Riggins and Tyra are good together, would have liked to see Landry come back for a guest appearance.

When Vince threw the ball up in the state championship game and it then cut to Erics new school in Phili i was a bit annoyed but it was a good way to tie it all up i guess.

I thought that end worked perfectly. Kept something to wait for and find out did they, didn't they ... Would have like to have an appearance from Smash to be honest. But all in all, very enjoyable.

LLCOOLSTEVE 13-09-2013 12:40 PM

They did show smash on the TV playing at a college team when Riggins was working in the bar close to the end

saxoneagle 13-09-2013 01:04 PM

DON'T RUIN THE ENDING!

You might see what they look like without Roddy and Julio soon.

Actually, they probably would have lost worse. But yes, Geno Smith needs to learn to put more zip on those long throws. (Unless he is Chad Pennington 2.0)

Just picked up two tickets for Wembley on 29th :p

My first NFL at Wembley game as never bothered before having been to games in US I was sure it couldn't be as good.

But listening to some of my team who've been before raving about it I thought I'd give it a go.

Last nights game was rather fun, especially once it started pouring with rain in the second half! Thank goodness I bought a poncho outside the ground - great investment.

Rookie WRs were pretty awful, there's no sugar coating it. Thompkins wasn't open and Dobson couldn't catch a cold. Boyce couldn't get a snap even though the others were struggling. Edelman was reliable but every reception went for about 5 yards.

The big problem though was the run game? Particularly in the second half when the conditions deteriorated. We couldn't get a yard on the ground. I know the Jets supposedly have a good defence, but it was like running into a brick wall for Ridley.

On defence our Backs were much closer to receivers than I've every seen them before. That may just be because the Jets are garbage though. We struggled to stop what's not a great running team and they regularly got solid 1st down runs to set them up well. Their TD drive was built around several easy gains on the ground.

Anyway, I'm sitting in Logan Airport now about to head back to Texas and I'm absolutely exhausted! Glad we're 2-0 but this team is going nowhere. We should take at least 5 wins from our division which always sets you up nicely, but I don't believe the defence is very good and while I think it will definitely improve greatly, can't see the offence returning to its previous magnificence.

Benzhiyi 13-09-2013 06:38 PM

As un-Patriot like performance as I've seen in the last ten years. Just did not look like a Belichick outfit in any way, shape or form. Two wins on the board, boys, but I can actually see us running you close for the AFC East this year if you play like that once faced with a half-decent team.

Did enjoy Brady losing his shit as his rookie WRs (why have you not re-signed Lloyd instead of putting these bums out there?) treated the ball as if it were a live grenade, time after time.

Still think him whinging for flags any time anyone goes near him is a ****'s trick, but I realise we're always going to disagree on that. Classy player, classless sportsman.

At least we remain united in our ability to laugh at the Jets. 53 new clowns, same old circus. I mean, Clyde Gates. BWAHAHAHAHAHA.

pauldrulez 13-09-2013 06:46 PM

I won't lose my shit because on this very thread in Week 2, 52 weeks ago, people were laughing their arses off because the Pats were 1-1 and had just lost at home to Arizona.

Young players get better. That's the way it is. Dobson will get better, he's a 2nd founder for a reason, and the abuse heaped on him is unfair. The diving catch in the endzone was difficult. The wrong route he run, well that can be ironed out, he saw a different option to Brady.

And we have Gronk back week 3, Amendola in the next few weeks, and a fresh Vereen back in week 10 for the run in.

I like being under the radar, and Chandler Jones is going to be top 5 this year. D'Brick is no mug at LT, but Jones beat him a few times, as well as getting a sack from DT on 3rd down.

What will be, will be, but in 2011, the Pats got everything fixed up by mid November and then went unbeaten until the Giants beat us via Welker's drop.

It's a long season, but I'll take 2-0 after 2 division games.

pauldrulez 13-09-2013 06:47 PM

And Lloyd hasn't been re-signed because he wants $3m a year and won't play for minimum.

He did little last year, I'd rather get Deion Branch, but I'd rather take the growing pains of Dobson, Thompkins, Boyce.

I don't think you'll ever be under the radar. Certainly not with Belichick on the touchline and Brady behind the controls.
