This guy must be decimating his league. He won't go undefeated, though.

Follow up to Funk's rightful commendation of Bill Barnwell. Barnwell today pointed out that the Broncos play the Jaguars in two weeks, and the expected line is apparently going to be an NFL record 28 points.

LLCOOLSTEVE 30-09-2013 11:49 PM

77% of money so far is for Jags +28 though so expect that line to move down slightly

He's a better option than Ponder IMO.

I could be mistaken, but I think Ponder talked himself out of the running for the Panthers when they drafted Cam by being a bit of a dick when they invited him out to dinner. Can't remember the details....

I can't see any scenario where Ponder would have been picked #1. It's possible they talked to him in case they traded down.

Oh no, Mel Kiper:
Quote:

Summary: Jacksonville got a quarterback at No. 10 I had rated as the No. 1 quarterback on my Big Board. Of course, I had Gabbert at No. 14 overall. Bottom line: this draft will be viewed through the prism of Gabbert and whether he succeeds. I think he has a shot but he needs time to develop, and after this draft I see a team that didn't really improve much in the near term, but believes it has its franchise quarterback of the future.

Poor Jaxson. :(

Just reinforces my belief that Kubiak is more at fault than Schaub:
Quote:

On the play in question, Schaub was asked to bootleg to his right. The Seattle Seahawks showed an obvious blitz before the snap, which is normally when an experienced quarterback like Schaub would audible. But Kubiak, who is sticking by Schaub as the team's starter, confirmed Monday that Schaub isn't allowed to change the play.

I went into tonight in the Keeper League match thinking there was no way that Sproles would outscore Colston by 27 points. :veryangry:sob::veryangry:sob::sob:

Going to be tight...

Really can't believe that any coach limits their QB that way, although Mike Martz used to run things that way in St. Louis.

Onto tonight's matters, erm, we're going to need taller DBs:

So glad that didn't happen. Cam is our Superstar. Trading down for Gabbert, Ponder, Locker etc would have put the Franchise back even further than we have/had already fallen.

I may be doing Ponder a disservice, it may have been one of the others. Do any of them have a rep for being a bit gobby?

Believe it or not, there are still some Cam haters here in Pantherland!

May have been Gabbert or Locker, I don't think Ponder was projected anywhere near the first round. Let alone 12th overall.

oz_da II 01-10-2013 01:10 PM

Certainly wouldn't have been Locker.

Looks like every mock had Gabbert as #2 and Locker as #3, with Ponder a late first rounder at best. Maybe the Panthers did talk to Ponder in case they wanted him in the second round if they had passed on Cam.

Fantasy Masterpieces - Week 4

Shaun Alexander Sea - RB 2002 vs. Minnesota 24 carries, 139 rushing yards, 3 catches, 92 receiving yards, 5 TD

Alexander never shied away from the spotlight, and some of his greatest efforts during his NFL career came on the national stage.

Case in point was a Sunday night affair in '02 against the Minnesota Vikings, when Alexander exploded out of the gates with arguably the greatest first half performance by a running back in NFL history – 111 rushing yards, 92 receiving yards and five touchdowns. Apparently he emptied the tank in those first two quarters, finishing not with a bang, but a whimper - just 28 rushing yards on 13 carries in the second half. We're guessing his fantasy owners cut him some slack on that.
Strangely enough, this performance didn't come against me. I did have one season when I went winless but had the 3rd highest point total in the league.

I always thought Suggs was a little crazy, but he sounds a little beyond that. Like there was only one possible outcome after a power outage, 49ers comeback.

Btw, I'm about to have convulsions if I have to hear about how the Saints are 4-0 solely because Payton is back. Doesn't matter that they've had 3 home games and had to get a Schiano special to win at Tampa Bay.

“If Denver is about 27-point favorites over Jacksonville in Week 6 at Denver, we would have to set the Broncos as at least 40.5 point favorites over the Crimson Tide,” Kevin Bradley, Sports Book Manager of Bovada.lv told Yahoo Sports. “Potentially even higher, as we would assume Denver would score almost every drive while Alabama would be lucky to score 10 points."

Flat Noodle 03-10-2013 06:17 AM

With all these talks, I reckon Jax might win now in Week 6
