There's a lot of players who have said if you look from the all 22 angle, Welker was going direct for Talib. Jim Leonhard (who hates the Patriots) called him a heat-seeking missile.

And it's different to a lot of normal pick plays. The ball hadn't been thrown when Welker hit him.

There was some awful refereeing at times, but you get that when you're the home team.

They deserved to win regardless, but Manning and Thomas vs Dennard on an island is not the same as Thomas vs Talib.

I normally take no interest in the Pro Bowl but really like what they are doing this year.

Makes it semi-interesting!

Is the pro bowl draft being shown anywhere? Wouldn't mind watching that.

NFL Network; I’m guessing you have GamePass?

Subscription ran out at the end of the regular season.

You need to renew!

The next few months are the reason I get the 12 month package to be honest; NFL Networks Super bowl coverage makes Sky Sports News coverage of Transfer Deadline day look child play. It’s so in-depth.

Then once that’s out the way, it’s all the lead up to the draft, which I find one of the most fascinating things in any sport. I enjoy watching the combine and the Path to the Draft shows. I simply don’t have time to take a big interest in the college season (I look out for Stanford results) so it’s a chance to get to know the prospects bar from what has already been talked about leading into the start of the process.

They do a very good job of making people very excited about Guards. It's a skill!

Hold onto your hat because Mike Mayock is going to make you believe in a 6th round interior lineman from Nebraska.

There's a story making the rounds about a confrontation Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman had last year with 49ers receiver Michael Crabtree.

The fuss took place after a charity softball game hosted last April by Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald. Sherman has since cited it as a catalyst for his fire-and-brimstone postgame rant toward Crabtree following Sunday night's NFC championship game.

According to the story, which was first reported by the Seattle Times, Crabtree tried to fight Sherman after Sherman approached him to shake his hand. At least that's what Sherman's brother, Branton, told the Times.

But a source who was at the Fitzgerald charity event—and who has no familial or professional relationship to Sherman or Crabtree—witnessed part of what happened and said it looked more like it was the other way around.

"The handshake part is legit," the source said, "but it was Sherman who tried to start the fight with Crabtree. I remember 'cause Sherman kept getting in his face and Crabtree was just laughing about it."

The incident took place at the charity game's after-party at the W. hotel in Scottsdale, Ariz.

John Madden criticizing Sherman is very interesting especially based on some of the stories I've read and NFL Films I've watched on his Raiders teams in the 70's...

Yeah, but that's when he was a young guy. No he's a grumpy old man.

Very true!

This is a shame and true as well:

Quote:

Richard Sherman believes himself to be a man of a bygone era.

The Seattle Seahawks' cornerback believes his brash and outspoken demeanor would've been better accepted by the masses in the previous century.

"I feel like my game might be 20 years too late," Sherman said Wednesday in the first of many media dalliances ahead of Super Bowl XLVIII. "Maybe I watched those guys too much. Maybe I studied Muhammad Ali, the Deion Sanders, the Michael Irvins, the Jerry Rices, I studied the old-school game more than I studied the new school game and I play it that way and it rubs a lot of people the wrong way."

"I guess maybe I just haven't adjusted to the times.
Pro sports needs more characters and villains.

Dante Scarnecchia retires.

Sad day for the Patriots.

He made that Offensive Line better than it was year after year. Be it Stephen Neal! Ryan Wendell, Dan Connolly... He developed them all and made them look remotely like a good line, no matter how many injuries.

Will be hugely missed.

Guess I'm not going to see the pro bowl draft, can't find much about watching it live or a re-run anywhere. Seen that Luck got picked 1st on NFL.com and that's about it.

oz_da II 23-01-2014 11:37 AM

I see Alex Smith was picked last.

The NHL tried this sort of draft a few years ago, the only interest was who got picked last (I think the "winner" was given a car).

The no hit, no intensity all-star game was yet again rubbish. They scrapped the game last year (shortened season) and no game this year due to the Olympics. Nobody is missing it.

Absolution 23-01-2014 04:36 PM

One idea I saw was to have the first/second worst teams play for the #1 pick. But that would mean they have a three week layoff before playing. Not ideal.

davematt 23-01-2014 05:19 PM

Anyone heard the Commish interview with Rich Eisen?

There might be a proposal in the next year or so for a change in the extra point ruling.

Instead of the current ruling, the idea would be to scrap the field goal/extra point all together and instead having it in a way where you get 7 points for a TD, and if you want to go for the extra point, you play it like you would a 2 pt converstion. If you make it, you get an extra point taking it to 8 points, but if you miss, you only get 6 points...The play it safe option would be to take the 7 points and call it at that.

I'm not big on it at all. Hope it doesn't come to fruition.
