:lux: :lux: And Belichick and Brady have both told his Dad to stop saying he is fit or injured when he knows nowt lol.

42-3 victory for the Pats

Strathclyde Eagle 05-09-2008 12:59 PM

Don't think it will be that many. I'd guess they're more focused on the bigger goal this year. Wouldn't be surprised if they started flirting with not covering again.

17-3 Pats.

pauldrulez 05-09-2008 01:01 PM

42-3 if they pass the ball like last year.

24-3 if we use the running game like we should have last year. We have a running game that is good but rarely used which isnt good when you get to a Superbowl and you are being blitzed.

Strathclyde Eagle 05-09-2008 01:06 PM

No need (you would think) to run it up on the Chiefs. It is a long year and there will be bigger challenges, if not in the regular season then at least in January.

saxoneagle 05-09-2008 01:15 PM

OK - some questions for the weekend:

1. Favre v Pennington? Will Pennington get some revenge on the Jets?

2. Flacco v Ryan? Which rookie QB comes away from week 1 with the most credit? Flacco at home to Cincy or Ryan at home to Detroit?

3. Which rookie will make his mark on week 1?

4. Green Bay start live AF (After Favre) - how will Rodgers cope and how will the Lambeau crowd react on Monday night if he throws a couple of picks?

5. A number of QBs are coming into their third year, supposedly a breakout year for a good QB including Cutler, Croyle, Leinart, Young, Tav Jackson. Who will have the best season.

Strathclyde Eagle 05-09-2008 01:20 PM

1) No arm, no chance.
2) Flacco. Hand it to McGahee, repeat ad infinitum.
3) DeSean Jackson.
4) Fine week 1, possible false dawn.
5) Young, because at the end of the day what matters is winning. That's all I think he cares about. Stats don't really matter to him, just the score when the clock hits zero.

pauldrulez 05-09-2008 01:22 PM

Pennington - has something to prove
Flacco - he is against a harder team.
Mayo...kidding, Dorsey defensively and Mendenhall with his low amount of carries.
Rodgers will impress and most of their fans are over Favrrrrrre.
Jay Cutler, not this weekend but in the future of this season.

1. No - Jets to win by 2 scores.

2. Flacco and Ryan will both have tough games, not because of the opposition, per se, but because they don't have any weapons to throw to. I'm backing both for a 1 TD, 2 pick match. I expect Ryan to finish on the losing side but the Baltimore D gives Flacco a chance to get a 1 in the win column.

3. Ryan Clady and Eddie Royal in Denver. I like the look of Denver this year (see also number 5). I don't think they'll run deep but they'll push the play-offs close and look to continue to build next year.

4. Toughest job in football right now? Maybe with high expectation but Rodgers isn't a rookie anymore. Sure, he hasn't started but he knows the coaches, he knows the offense and he knows the players around him. Even not rating Tavaris Jackson very highly, I think the Vikings would've won with him but if they are without him, Rodgers will lead the Packers to a win by a score.

5. Cutler for me. He has an improving OL around him, he has some good receivers and he looks composed in the pocket. The only downside? To the Broncos fans, he's not John Elway and until he has a ring he'll always carry that burden.

Croyle looks good but has a young team around him. He can't be judged on week 1, or early season at all, as the team needs to bed around him.

Leinart should be making a difference this year. He's not even starting. He didn't read the offense in pre-season and made numerous awful calls. Not bad ones, AWFUL. He's gone backwards and will forever be a backup if he's not careful. Anyone starting to think that a #10 pick might have been too high for him, despite him thinking he should've been higher?

Young needs to start throwing accurately. Vick might've been a total tool of the highest order but he could run AND throw. Tebow might run for 100 and throw for 200, Vince, but this is the NFL and your team would appreciate it if you started hitting targets.

Jackson is a safe option. He's growing into the role but in 12 starts last year he only threw 9 TD passes. That won't take the Vikings to a championship game.

And with McGahee possibly not ready to start?

If he'd left USC after his junior year there is every chance he would have gone number 1. Astonishing if you think about how his career has turned out.

Still got his team the wild card. Personally I'd prefer a QB who can win games even if he's not having a good day with his arm.

Actually, a QB who can win full stop would be nice. :D

Lots of slant patterns.

I hope no-one else has listened to the BS Report this week, otherwise my reasoning is blown out of the water.

And apart from Ben, we all have similar points spreads on the Den/Oak match - less than a TD covers everyone!

No sign of Paul for a couple of minutes, someone should check on him

He probably got a little too excited about Brady not being injured...

I gave up after not being able to sign any free agents on the original pool on my work comp for some bizarre reason and then my total apathy when I got home
