Can he refuse to be traded?
|
I'm not sure tbh.
Different sources are saying he can and others (the more reputable ones) are saying he can't. I guess if he keeps his demands high, rather than negotiating with the teams, he may price teams out of it. One of the reasons that the Pats will look to trade early IMO, is to get that money of the tag. If no-one wants to trade, I could see the Pats taking the tag off. Now that scenario is unlikely. And with our office in disarray. McDaniels gone, has taken Capers and Pioli is on his way elsewhere, its going to be hard to make decisions like that. Bill is in for a lot of work this next season. It's likely he works from within. Bill O'Brien (WR coach) will likely be made OC with Belichick's help with the signal-calling. RAC is rumoured to be coming back as it will be an experienced head there which allows Bill to work on the offensive side of the ball. It's a long, interesting off-season ahead. I've no doubt i'll explode with excitement at Doncaster away as I attempt to rush home for the draft (with online commentary from PFWinProgress as they break down the picks and call everyone a reach). First season in a long time that Bill has had a rest before the off-season. 2007 it was Free Agency the next Day after the Bowl. 2006 he was coaching in the Pro Bowl. Hope the (unfortunate) rest does him some good although with Cassel in the team, his persona seemed to be a bit more excitable and back like he was in the early 2000s. How did my answer ramble on to that? :D ;) |

This isn't like British football here. If the Pats agree a trade with Minnesota he can't just refuse to go, and they would automatically take over his one year contract as far as I'm aware. Once he becomes a Minnesota player only then can he agree a new contract - not beforehand. I may have it wrong but that's the rules as I understand them. Players are essentially pieces of meat. (Hence why Jake Plummer never dressed again after being traded to Tampa.) |
Any chance someone setting up a Patriots/Cassell/Brady etc thread? ;)

And Dungy, good luck to him. Some people saying, like Favre he went one year too far. For me, unlike Favre I like the guy and have big respect for him. I can still see him coming back though. elliott, where are you watching NFL Network? :D |
On one of Americas Game programmes it was suggested Dungy was a lightweight coach and let players do what they want at old team - Kansas?
|
So, McDaniels gone to Denver and saying he will wear a hoodie in homage to Belichick (you hear that Mangina?)
Pioli gone to Kansas where i'm excited to see what he is going to do. Our WR coach and ST coaches are likely to move on to Denver with Josh. Our off-season just got stranger yet more exciting. :) :( |
Just been watching some Ravens videos. Jeez, what a leader of men Ray Lewis is. Man, every team in whatever sport needs someone like that. Can't help but be inspired. Very impressive.
I take it most teams in the NFL have leaders like that, who have the same qualities. |
Bruschi... oh wait, he isn't liked that much from what I hear. Four words... MAYO ;)
Erm... the Phins have Porter right now. Dansby at the Cards. Dawkins at the Eagles. A lot of teams do, but some have some younger players who combine together as a Team rather than the one player. |

Great to watch some old-timey football. |
Cool.
SKY contract has come to an end. NFL Network is LIKELY to be coming to the UK :lux: Excellent. Please be here for the Combine. |

What do you mean the Sky contract has come to the end? Will it not be on Sky next year? Please tell me I won't have to invest in Setanta. |
Is the point I am going towards ;)
I think he will be doing what he does with McDaniels with O'Brien. Bill loves the guy. It's likely he will take a run at Crennel to work on the D side if he wants to. That way he can focus his attention on the offense and allow Bill (no.2) to adjust to the job and learn from under him. I think BB wants to be involved with the playcalling from what i'm hearing so that BO'B can hear what is done, when it is done and how to adjust to the pace of it. |

They would likely still have CBS/Fox/NBC etc which is 80%+ games. But Total Access/Gameday/Live Wire would all be shown wherever NFL sign the contract which would be either NFL Network or SKY as I don't think it will be on Setanta. |
