I think I read somewhere that Ware causes the Cowboys cap problems. Can't remember the source though.

Interesting reading Oaklands forums.

Amazingly they seem to be split 50-50 on Franchising Lechler or Asomugha.

For me, its a no brainer but they seem to like the field position Lechler brings. But Asomugha is the one CB that (well, almost) no-one threw at all year.

Decent rumour on the Ravens message boards, general feeling is not one of confidence that he will be there next year. Believe Jamie Dukes asked him about whether he would like to play with TO in an interview on Total Access this week.

I not experienced to comment on the cap thing as it really does confuse me right now ... I hope that's not the case for Ware as he would be a BIG loss ...

However, similarities could be made of the Cowboys in the early 90s after watching Americas Game earlier today..... by that I'm referring to us getting rid of Herchel Walker for an imense amount if draft picks and players .... I don't know if that was down to the fact that he was sought after player that caused cap problems back then, will have to look into it a little more ....

It was the 92 Cowboys and my first experience of seeing my team win the Superbowl ... Like a few of you I started watching when C4 had the rights to highlights. Mt and my old man chose a side from the outside by doing some research about the game before the first match of that particular season. So this 92 Cowboys win started off with Jerry Jones taking over in 89 or 90 (I think) and sacking the great Tom Landry and installing Jimmy Johnson ... all this was as fresh in my memory and it was great to reminice ...

Little did me and my old man know how much of a roller coaster few seasons the Cowboys and the 49ers would have in the 90s ... good times ... and another great AG episode ... :p

Interesting, someone who I would like to see at the Cowboys for sure .... but TO could well be on his way if the rumours are true ... I guess it's the silly season now anyway so there will be many more of these before anything actually happens ...

I think he was seen as the final piece in the Minnesota puzzle, when in actuality the trade was the building block for a new Cowboys' dynasty. I think there is a great article somewhere on the web about what it did for the prospective franchises.

I'll go as far as to say I think that it is part of the reason why you don't see so many in-season trades for players these days. Everyone is worried about paying too much for one quality player (hello, Roy Williams).

pauldrulez 08-02-2009 07:06 PM

Here is what i've read today on various sites:

Jets after Ray Lewis.
Jets fans want Favre to be cut and some say get Cassel (before next part) others want to draft another QB.
Cassel has signed the Tender offered to him.
The two Cards ProBowl receivers are trying to persuade Warner to come back.
Haynesworth wants to have a huge deal.
PFT believe Cassel will stay at New England.
Schefter believes Cassel will stay in New England.
An ESPN reporter says that Belichick has something worked out already.
A Patriots insider backs up ESPN.
Terrell Owens possibly gone already (I think unlikely)
Jets giving Favre 10 days to stay.
Johnson and Gonzalez want out of KC.
Houshmandzadeh doesn't want to stay.
Dansby would like to go to the Giants.

And Pro Bowl is 2.5 hours away.

My first thoughts on the Jets are: They are 7.5m over cap already. How the hell can they get rid of/keep Favre. How can they sign Lewis/Cassel?

I think Warner will come back to Zona next year.

I highly doubt TO is already gone but in Dallas it wouldn't shock me.

Yes, the episode began in such a manner from Jerry Jones taking over, sacking Landry, bringing Jimmy Johnson in and then that trade that, like you so rightly say, was THE building block for the success in the 90s ...

Interesting ... we were obviously on the wrong end of the Roy Williams trade this season then so watch out for Detroit in the next couple of years ... ;)

I has so much time for Michael Irvin though. He was one of the guys telling the story. He came across as a TO kind of guy, but the difference was clear to see that it was the passion for the game that Irvine had, which no doubt TO has but he's quite a cock as most have already said on here.... The story goes that before the changes Irvine was disillusioned by the dressing room by the way that he was always distraught after losing a game whereas a lot of the other players said don't worry, just pick up the pay cheque. Then Jimmy Johnson called him and said he was taking the head coach position, Irvine gave him a list of players that simply weren't interested in playing, the rest is history ...

Final note was of a player called Gant for the Cowboys who was known as the Shark. It was his trademark celebration whether he was making a play or on the end of a play ... he just lived for the camera! I vaguely recall the name but not that much about the player ...

I think it is the fresh start that we need. Romo will no longer have the pressure of having to pass to him to keep an easy life on the sideline ... but I don't doubt TO's ability, it's just a shame that he seems to be so disruptive .... If this is the case and he goes, or is already gone, we need a replacement that's for sure ...

pauldrulez 08-02-2009 09:22 PM

I would say Houshmandzadeh could be someone who could be a fit. But again, wants a lot of balls. :D

But, Anquan Boldin jumps out to me here. Possibly wants out of Zona. But would want a lot of money.

pauldrulez 08-02-2009 09:26 PM

I didn't realise how much the Americans hated the ProBowl but everywhere I look the author of the article hates it. From ESPN to Fox.

I would watch it anyway, but I want to see The Incredible Welk and the Ghost playing. Love them both. Legends ;)

Manning Bros and the Arizona Trio should be good as well.

Strathclyde Eagle 08-02-2009 09:28 PM

Housh said apparently he wants to go to Philly. No trouble, compared to TO (talent-wise comparison) or Henry (Bengal comparison). Would be interesting to see Donovan with a decent weapon who isn't Brian Westbrook.

Funnily enough, I very nearly mentioned the Houshman in my post above .... Boldin woul dbe an excellent replacement also ... I guess we'll have to watch this space and see what happens.

On the Cassell situation, I cannot understand why he would stay there unless the injury to Brady is worse (if it can be) that we all have been made aware. Don't the Pats have a young QB in the wings waiting to be groomed which would mean Cassell leaving would give him more room to grow?

Why would anyone want to go to Philadelphia?? I mean the place more so than the team .... I understand it's an awful place ....

Kevin O'Connell. 3rd round pick out of San Diego State.

But, they are turning him into a Pocket Passer. So it will take time as he is a Rusher.

Go Gostkowski.

pauldrulez 08-02-2009 09:43 PM

The way i'm looking at it, is that the Patriots want something for him.

They have pulled a guy that never played in college and brought him $14m.

Unbelievable.

pauldrulez 08-02-2009 09:45 PM

My god.

That AFC Defense scares me.

Linebackers: Joey Porter, Ray Lewis, James Harrison.

pauldrulez 08-02-2009 09:50 PM

I gotta agree with the commentator talking about Andre Johnson.

IMHO, the best receiver in the NFL along with Larry Fitz.

peagle 08-02-2009 10:09 PM

AFC are dominating this already!
